Yay! I found one of my childhood vacuums! It's an Oreck XL3700! My grandma had one but it was thrown out. Do you have an Oreck? What model? Let me know what you think about my Oreck. Do you have any of your childhood vacs? What are they? Please tell me what date my new to me Oreck was manufactured. Here's the date: 06335C. Also I gave my Oreck a long spa-day.

Your Oreck was made on December 1, 2006. The first two numbers are the year and the last three are the day.

Oreck date...

Actually if I remember correctly the way the manufacturing date reads on Oreck's is the first two numbers are the year and the last three are the day of the year. So your Oreck was made on the 335th day of 2006.

They are OK

I like my lime green xl with the special helping handle, that is, as a vacuum for short pile carpet. It is light, and easy to use on short pile, but for anything else, I would use another machine. It cleans OK on a medium pile carpet, but it doesn't leave those deep lines, and it is hard to push on that type of carpet. I have an almost new xl canister too, and I like how lightweight it is, and it filters pretty well for a compact canister, but I wouldn't say suction on it is outstanding. Overall, I think they are good if you have lots of floors and short pile carpet. I like their freshener tablets, and their huge paper bags. Most were made in the u.s, so you have to give them some credit!

Childhood vacs that I have are a 12 amp kenmore destiny plus, red kenmore quick clean, kenmore (easy clean) progressive (ours was not a progressive but the one we had when I was younger was very similar), and a black and decker dustbuster stick vac.

I have 2 Orecks to sell.

One is a "car vacuum", the other an upright. I HAD to use one at my old job. It was not my happiest day.

How to make John's day happier-

super-sweeper's profile picture

PLAN A- Chuck Oreck out window and give him the HOOVERS.

PLAN B- Place Hoover sticker on Oreck and state, "Look, John! It's HOOVER'S latest model!"

PLAN C- Run screaming while he angrily chases you down the road for forcing to use "Foreign Cleaners"

LOL.

(Ducks and runs)

If you went w/ plan B.... the stickers would "burst into flames". Quick, call the HOOVER "designers"....................
