gsheen would probably know - see previous thread and reply no. 6. These uprights appear to be made in the Netherlands/Holland, not Germany.

The Fakir S-312 (as well as the S-314) were most commonly found in North America as the Clarke Combivac. Once Nilfisk Advance purchased Alto, the Fakir uprights branded for Clarke were discontinued in favour of Nilfisk's in-house designed and manufactured machine.
The older Fakir uprights used a flat belt, which was it's biggest drawback in commercial use, IMHO. Newer models incorporated a cogged belt.
Fakir uprights are made in Vaihingen an der Enz, Germany. They're not manufactured by Ivac. |

I went to a factory in China recently were they were making exact copies of these under many names in different colours. They were very very secretive and did not want pictures of these machines taken, other vacuum models yes but not these and other canisters mentioned in a similar thread, Perhaps because the company's claim they are made in Germany:)

No not Kingclean, But they manufacture so many brands of vacuums for company's its amazing. If your a vacuum company and need a entry level vacuum you just take your design to them and tell them the quality you want and presto you get a vacuum. I have seen really good quality and really poor quality vacuums come out of that plant. t was another company. There is literally a vacuum plant on every corner.

For starters Mercedes benz, BMW,Toyota, VW,Audi,Mazda Ford all have very large manufacturing plants in SA. To name a few car manufacturers. Diomonds ( debeers) Thats SouthAfrican Gold , most of it comes from SA. Platinum too. Various electronics, I dont follow this to closely but know of Panasonic and Sony. Appliances Kelvinator Had a huge manufacturing facility in SA some years back. They even had a test centre here in the 60's were they would test new products as they found that no market was as tough on appliances as SA. Electrolux( I worked for them in engineering ) wap, Hoover, Defy, AEG, to name a few off the top of my head. In fact allot of stuff has been and still in manufactured in SA. Like many western Country's we have lost allot of manufacture to China mainly in the appliance front. I work in the vacuum cleaner business, I own a vacuum shop. I also consult on engineering front for small appliances. Any case I am glad to have been given the chance to educate you a little :) |

I wish you'd learn when you're being taught something, Vegas. Otherwise keep your comments to yourself and be prepared to learn something new.
NOT ALL Fakir vacuums are made in Germany. Here's a little example for you: Also if you look at their range of cordless hand held vacuums AND the cordless stick vacuum, those are made in China. We have them in the U.K under the Dirt Devil brand and other budget brands. |

I amended my original comment by adding in "exact Copies" I never said they were Fakir though, I just said they were making these uprights under different names in many colours. It would not surprise me if they were making them for Fakir as the company in question makes very high end products for allot of German and UK company's. I have never been to Fakir's manufacturing plant in Germany, Perhaps you have But I have with my own eyes seen these and the canister versions rolling down production lines in China. I own a Nilco version of this unit that has served me well, My delphin has this same powernozzle too. Perhaps you should think before you insult. You would be the only one who is delusional if you think manufacturers don't manufacture in china and say claim its built in Germany. |

Thank you Jeff
I am always amazed to see what comes out of China. I have just seen carbon copies of the sanitaire vacuums, IE down to the colour and they are well made. I have also got a commercial upright vacuum sample that will give sebo a run for its money ( no offence sebofan) as far as build quality goes. Not the same shape at all though but I was very impressed. China is like a huge shopping market if you buy appliances for resale. They are moving rapidly into the commercial/ industrial market now |

Vegas I would really appreciate if you would not be unnecessarily rude here. Telling someone they "must be on drugs" because of a difference of opinion is not cool and completely uncalled for. That is something you would see on a comments section of large city newspaper website, but this is Vacuumland and we are suppose to be a family joined via a common interest.
Vacuumland is a great place and the harmony here has generally been wonderful and I will do what ever it takes to keep it that way. So please, if you can't say it in a nice/polite way then don't say it at all. In the end you will get a lot more respect and people will take your opinions more seriously. |

No Vegas sucks it was not false hood. I never said they were made in China, Just that the exact same machines are. Maybe Fakir has a Factory in Germany, May bee they don't. Unless you have seen it you will never know. That said I have seen the very same machines In the same color, (But did not see a name on them) rolling off the production line in china.
One other point, The Nilfisk/alto/wap uprights are identical to the Nilco in build quality and parts. The only difference is the color. I own both |

Vegus sucks
You are the only one with assumptions. I never said it was a bad vacuum nor did I attack it. In fact you were the one who attacked. Just that I saw models like it been made in China. You are the one who assumed I ment that it was a bad thing it was made in China. Its not. If it cleans well who cares if its made in Germany or China. I will continue to post were I feel like. Its a free forum and if I have input I will post something. I love dyson vacuums and accept that others dont but hate those who continue to bash the brand so I never would do that. I feel that if someone has taken time to post about a vacuum add something informative but dont bash. I never bashed your Fakir. As I said I own the original version and a newer version and they work well, are light and easy to use. Dont assume that because I said versions of this vacuum are been made in china that I was bashing your vacuum. Now back to the vacuum I have sent an email to the Chinese manufacturer requesting a sample. I will post pics on here when I get it. This machine was also badged as an Electrolux Panther upright as Electrolux SA distributed the Nilco brand at some stage. |

***sigh***
Ok first Vegas attacks someone by telling them they must be on drugs, next he calls someone a cheapskate and now he insults the majoritoy of the members here with another derogatory comment at the end of his last post above. After repeated warnings (and I've been more than fair and patient) he is now banned from posting here. I've refunded his donation in full and he is no longer welcome here. It's irrelevant at this point who is right and who is wrong, there is a right way and wrong way of interacting, he clearly doesn't get that and is not fit to be posting here. If anyone notices any other issue, please let me know. Thanks all and pardon the interruption in the thread. |

Let me be the first to thank you for removing Vegas from Vacuumland. I personally have been reading this since yesterday afternoon & was not impressed with his conduct here! Why is it that some people seem they can join just to start arguments & drama?! Perhaps it's time to start being more selective about who gets to join & post here....
