I've learned that Rob Shore, "Zippy" will be traveling through my 'neck of the woods' today. He has to pick up some things at his parents' townhouse. He'll stop by Matt's house for some "lawnmower fun". Then, onto my house for some dinner and a little (ok, a lot) of vacuum cleaner fun. He'll be able to pick up all of his cleaners which have been happily stored here while he moved. He'll also be able to receive his Wind Tunnel canister 'gift' . Maybe we can watch "Mommie Dearest' this time, as, he didn't even realize he was re-enacting scenes from it thew last time he was here. There will be NO Filter Queen demos this time.I'm sure pics will follow. It's always great fun to have my vac friends stop by.
John

Well,

gottahaveahoove's profile picture
both Matt and Zippy came here for din din and vac fun. Photos will come soon. Matt got to run my HOOVER which belonged to the late, great Terry Lattz. He was thrilled to use something that was his. Rob got to run the 2 new "vault" canisters, the Futura and Spectrum. They ran numerous vacuums all over the place. They even assembled all of the vacuums I brought home from North Canton. FUN!! I used Matt's "power drive". It is ONE strong machine. Some vacuums will be leaving here .After home made sauce, meatballs, rigatoni, salad, fruit and ice cream, Pittston Hospital iced tea, and even some hot chocolate. All had a great time.

Well, it was certainly an event to take note of. After Rob came to my house and played with the lawn mower (believe me, he had a field day as there was PLENTY for him to cut), we went to John's house. We arrived around 7pm and just got back to my house now. (It is now 4:46am) Tomorrow will be VERY interesting, seeing as I have to be on my way to work in precisely 2 hours and 15 minutes. How much beauty sleep can I squeeze in?!?!

The majority of the photos taken tonight are on John's camera. I only have a couple here on my phone to upload, actually only 3, and just one is of a vacuum cleaner!

So, first, we have John running my 1995 Hoover Power Drive upright. I've modified it slightly in the sense that I've removed the Elite style brushroll that it came with and replaced it with the classic Quadraflex agitator.

After John ran the Power Drive, he laid down on the freshly Hoovered carpet to play with one of the cats, in this case, Murphy.

By 2am, the FABULOUS dinner John served was wearing off. So, sensing my mounting hunger, John piped up and said "PopTart, anyone?" to which I happily obliged. However, the Hoover toaster he put them in was on the wrong temperature setting and they came out a little crispy. They were still quite good though.

Oh, it was a great time! However, I get the feeling that I will be regretting all the late night Hoover antics in a couple of hours.

Glad everyone had such a good time.

I was starting to think I' better start 'fixing' breakfast!! I realized that I pushed the toaster selector to "dark" when I wiped it off. Ordinarily, it makes perfect toast! No surprise there.
Yes, there were only HOOVERS (as my friend Joe says)..."for DAYS". {Breathe easy, Tom}. Arthur was totally oblivious to all of the excitement, and the HOOVER motors are a common sound. Murphy, on the other hand, was thrilled to be in the middle of everything, believing that "Uncles Matt and Rob" came just to see him.
I think we were the only 3 people awake in Pittston. It was almost time to break out the pillows, sheets, etc. It was like "Welcome to Motel 6".... or, perhaps a nice Hilton. Now, I have to cut MY grass. Zippy, where are you when I need you???

Thursdays are bad, but... perhaps, think about our Halloween "Monster Mash Bash II". Dinner is already planned: Bacon wrapped scallops, antipasto, chicken Parmesan. You are welcome here. The date isn't nailed down yet. My niece/Godchild is getting married in VA on Oct 19. So, it'll either be just before, or just after.

John, the Hoover PowerDrive upright you're using looks like it matches or almost matches the red in your rug and armchair. A Hoover for Every Taste in Home Décor so to speak. :-)

Cool!

I didn't know you could put a Quadraflex agitator in those!! Will the one from the Concept series fit? My parents have this machine and it is ready for a new brushroll.

The Teal Team!

durango159's profile picture
Thanks to John Long's gracious hospitality and "Holding Services", I am settled into my new townhouse and was able to squish my stored Hoovers into the van. They're all home now.
The Teal Hoover Power Team canisters are ready for dirt.--- Those of greater knowledge can correct me if "Teal" isn't fitting enough for the close enough color contrast of these powerful great cleaners.

As a reminder, the answer is "YES". The Hoover Dimension 1000 on left end did receive its new hose. How could you forget-- NO SOUP FOR YOU!!! The old one that came with the machine is long disposed of. The new one is doing quite well and a much appreciated gesture by Davinator1977 in securing one for me!! Thanks Dave!

John, next time just give me more notice!!

durango159's profile picture
I'm always in the mood for running some loud lawn equipment!! It's just a matter of time. Matt thought I was going to have a bird when I saw the size and demand of his property, but to me, it just adds to the fun.

Just like bringing vacuums to Minimeets, I am equally always thrilled to pack the Echo SRM265S weedwacker and assist outdoors. Don't mow next time I'm in the area and I'll get it taken care of. Some people like to shoot guns, use punching bags to calm down and clear their minds. For me the power equipment does it.

Googled image of it below but otherwise same model as my weedwacker. The Echo SRM265S trimmer with 5 yr. consumer warranty, straight steel shaft, 25.4 CC Power Boost Vortex engine. Heavy duty vibration system. Commercial grade, private dealer sold line. This is not one of the Home Depot units!

Always fun to hang out with such fun, nice people!! NICE-- a funny overlooked word, by dictionary definition meaning: Pleasing, agreeable, delightful, amiably pleasant, kind. John Long, Matt Geda, and many others that share that the MiniMeets present themselves as being sincere, and fun with guests while not causing a scene. Ethical mannerism is another trait we all have in having respect for John's house "the host" in this case. All in contrast of one that might per say, I don't know, push a Motel 6 to settle a business transaction. An example of unethical.

We've all met up at Johns on a few other MiniMeet occasions and have a great time drinking the famous Pittston Tea, eating a great meal, repairing and trying out various vacs, and socially getting along like lifelong friends. We're all real to each other in the moment rather than making fun of another later on.

Sometimes the impromptu things are just as much fun. There's very little time to prepare for them, though. The night before, I made a Crock Pot of sauce and meatballs.
I'm really just about ready to get back into more painting, wallpapering, molding, etc to continue the progress on the house. A LOT more will be done before Christmas, please God!

Yes, that vacuum does match the stripes in that chair, and the Karastan carpet. Red is a predominant them here in the house. But, fear not!! There are plenty of blue, green, yellow, pink, etc HOOVERS here to coordinate. Anytime I repaint, redecorate, etc.. there's a HOOVER ready to match. Isn't that part of the fun of it all?

I'd say that's part of the fun of it. And with a good sized collection of Hoovers to choose from, you really can pretty much do it in whatever color you want.

Zippy...

I ran your beautiful Hoover Elite IV (the one in the center in that picture of the 3 canister vacuums) when I visited John in Pittston. That is an excellent machine. I wish Hoover still made good canisters like that.

I'm glad ya'll had fun. John is a great cook and host.

Glad you enjoyed using that Hoover John!!

That machine would not be what it is with out the help of several other collectors/ Vacuum Dealers. The suction unit was fixed by Joel and Chris. I got the power head from Derreck whom I've met on vacuum sites on Facebook. I think it's a great machine as well that turned out excellent thanks to the help of several others.

I wish Hoover had a current canister on the market with similar features. I'm not a fan of the combination style tools. I like full sized tools stored on board on units. I like the sound of the older Hoover canisters. Most of the newer suction units on vacuums sound about the same brand to brand, they're very high speed, inefficient and higher pitched annoyance sounding almost. They just don't make things like they used to. To top it off, there are electronic boards in all of the junk now. Why can't we go back to regular wiring on/off switches and all variable speed, 2 fan motors.

No you don't have to tell me the answer to that. Every company is trying to cut costs. In doing so they cut corners and quality. It's a term a FilterQueen that we refer to as Planned obsolescence.
