Last year sometime, I posted a photo on here of an Admiral television from the 1950's that I stripped out all of the shot components and installed a computer inside of it, keeping television, DVD, radio and other functions, AND having a pretty cool looking computer in the process... Anyway my wife told me that she found something for me that would look good sitting beside my Admiral TV and if I wanted it, she would get it for me. The "something" she was referring to was none other than a vintage (possibly 1950's) Admiral vacuum cleaner!!!!! I can't wait to get it in!!

I have to say she's the best (at least for me), not only does she let me sit vacuum cleaners all over the house without too much complaining, she even surprises me with one on occasion! I have seen threads on here before where someone's significant other didn't approve of their hobby and I think that could be bad if that was our case! Thankfully though she doesn't mind and my kids absolutely LOVE them! My Silverado has become a ride on toy for my daughter and my infant son falls fast asleep anytime I turn one on......well all except my Kirby G5, it kind of scares him!

That's a great vacuum. They were private labeled under many different names, Cadillac, Firestone, Admiral, etc. The only difference was the label, even the color was always the same. Love the two speed switch, very much ahead of its time for the day.

The Admiral Vacuum....

I believe that your very cool, and RARE vacuum was produced by The Clements Manufacturing Company, of Chicago Illinois. Clements also produced the more well known Cadillac brand of cleaner, as well as Packard and others. I'd date this early 1950's as their Cadillac Canister..the "Quick Vac" looked identical. THe tell tale sign of MFG is the two switches at the end of the machine. One controlled the power on/off, and the other was a speed switch for high/low.

It looks wonderful. Hope you don't mind me giving you this info. Clements was a pretty big going concern, and still is to my knowledge. The vacuums did not last past the 1950's I think.. IIRC their address was 6650 S. Narragansett Avenue, In Chicago. I visited it once for kicks when I was in Chi-town. Not much to see... Just industrial buildings. OLD industrial buildings. Chad

Re Quick Vac..

The Quick Vac was a swivel top canister, not a tank...here is mine 1955.Would you believe they are still in business!! making commercial blowers.

I looked up "Cadillac" vacuums a few years ago--the "Quick Vac" survives as a dry pickup external shop type vacuum.Uses any of their Cadillac blower motors and the blue filter bag that goes on the discharge of the blower as the external filter-a smaller version of the Tornado vac-and they make plastic film and sheet "welding" machines-a Cadillac blower that blows thru a heater device and welds the seams on the plastic peices.Like for fabricating landfill liners and "artifical" ponds and drainage holding ponds for large parking lots.
