Hi,
Could you please submit pictures of your 903? I want to see what it looks like, so that I can help you obtain the correct trim parts for it. Ben, first time posting pictures. Seems only one at a time unless I'm doing it wrong. |

Just as I suspected! The belt I'm seeing is part #1-672260-001, which is designed to be used only on metal Royal uprights with the hex-ended brush rolls (1992 to present).
You will need to use the following teams of belt and brush in your machine, as stated earlier: #1-043260-001 belt + #2-059721-000 brush roll or... #1-044260-001 belt + #2-675221-000 brush roll ~Ben |

Yes, the belt you used is the wrong one indeed and of course that would be the cause of the brush roll bearing failure.
You could call Royal at 1-800-321-1134 and they may be able to conjure a list of dealers near you. You can also ask them about the parts you want, and which are to be used with your machine. ~Ben |

If all else fails, there are numerous online parts stores that may have your parts, such as:
www.totalvac.com/... www.commercialvacuum.com/... www.vacsew.com/... ~Ben |

Glad to hear you have parts and attachments on the way. Ben is right, I am into Electro-Hygiene in a big way! I have 20 of them in my collection, including the 3 903's that Ben mentioned. Partly because I sold them myself in 1974 and again in 1976, and partly because of family connections. Two of my Aunts and a Great-Aunt had them when I was a kid, and two of my Uncles sold them before I was born, one of which actually became my Uncle because of Electro-Hygiene! Let me explain.
My Uncle Dick was selling Electro-Hygiene in the late 40's, early 50's. He became friends with another salesman named Red and at one time told him "you should meet my sister-in-law sometime." Uncle Dick introduced Red to my Aunt Mary, they hit it off from the start, and eventually got married. Aunt Mary and Uncle Red celebrated 50 years together before they passed away, and Uncle Red got back into selling sweepers briefly in the mid 60's. This time it was Electrolux, and when we spent Christmas with them in 1965 (the year my Dad passed away) Uncle Red demoed a turquoise model G for me. But beside the family connections and having sold them myself is the fact that Electro-Hygiene is just a great all round vacuum cleaner. It's powerful, durable, and maneuverable. Can't ask for much more than that. Here is a group shot of some of my Electro-Hygienes, Left to right are 3 285's, a 777, 880, 890, and 980. Jeff |
