Just to let everyone know, I am also Oreckboy, but something went wrong with that account, so I made this one. If you have seen any of my forums, if it was Oreckboy or this acoount, you probably know that I love Orecks! They are my favorite modern vacuum brand. Even though some people say horrible things about them such as "They are just modified sweepers" I agree that they are modified sweepers, but I grew up around Orecks and i kind of have special memories with them, My aunt had one, my grandma had three and my other aunt has a Oreck XL gold edition also my other aunt has an Oreck XL classic and so does my grandpa. I have 8 Orecks counting my six uprights and my one canister hand vac and my one electric broom. My first Oreck I ever got was my aunts Oreck XL 2450 Gold Signiture Series from 2002.
Enough with History. I just bough a 2-speed Oreck XL3800 off of ebay for 60 dollars. The Oreck is in okay condition. The Outer bag is gray with the gold XL2 stitching. The motor housing is black and the helping hand handle is also black. I would just like to know what year this oreck is from and if I got a good deal. I am happy with my purchase, but I am still looking for an Oreck XL3700, 3610 and an outer bag for my 3120.

Any information that you have about the model I bought, please let me know. Any information is appreciated. THANKS! Below is a picture from the ebay posting of the Oreck that I bought.

Look on the manufactuer's plate...

You should see a strand of 3-5 numbers, usually with the word "DATE:" next to it. Those numbers are the Date Code, The 1-3 Numbers are for the day of the year, and the last 2 numbers are for the year the vacuum was manufactured.

I've circled the Date code on this picture of my XL2 , The same as yours, except in white. In my Case, My XL2 Was manufactured the 30th day of 2002.

(Please excuse the filthy bumper- It's been sitting in the garage waiting for Spa day!)

By the way, That bag holder (The plastic thing at the bottom of the bag) would no appear original to your model, As The XL2's Came with rounded off bag holders.

-Alex.
