I really love the Kenmore canister in the forefront in reply # 1.   It is identical, all the way down to the triangular shaped dusting brush,   to the one my mother had when she was killed in an auto accident when I was 4, and the vacuum that started my love of them.  I have been looking for one like it for what seems like forever, and have come close.  The one pictured below I received from another member on this forum a few years ago, and while I really do like it, it just isn't the same.  All the attachments are correct, except it doesn't have the triangular dusting brush, and the tool caddy isn't removable.  Also, the carry handle on the front is missing.  Some day I know I'll get lucky and find that machine.

Joe

Emperor and Empress! Both unique machines - the Empress was made by Panasonic and the Emperor had a unique GE motor that was 'upside down' (the carbon brushes were closest to the bag, the fans were by the exhaust - like an Air-Way model 66 motor).

I Agree--Love Picture Threads!

hygiene903's profile picture
Hans and Tom, you both have some great machines there. And vintage machines are my favorites! Some I've never seen before, such as the Nilfisk, Firestone, Cadillac, and the odd-shaped Wards/Eureka tank. Also saw several I have, including the 84 and 858 Connies, Hoover 63, Electro-Hygiene 966 tank, C3 GE, Filter Queen 350, Revelation C2 (except mine is green instead of blue), Royal 801, and AirWay 55.
In keeping with the spirit of this thread, hope you don't mind if I post a few. For starters, here's my Westinghouse upright, model F1-46, with attachments. This is a great running vac, has good hose suction, but brushroll is shot. Hans, i think it may be a little older or newer than the older on you posted, but I'm not sure.
Jeff

Of Course

Nothing concerning vintage vacuums would be complete without the incomparable Apex Strato Cleaner from 1957, Model 5555,150.00 new, I think that is one reason you never see them, they were a store vac priced higher than many of the door to door vacs. You can tell this is one of my most prized possessions, I hunted over 17 years to find it!

That's a beautiful Eureka you have there Jeff. Any chance you could snap a side view of this cleaner? Love the early light houseings.

They must have made them with or without the light--yours looks the same as mine, except for the light, and your bag is different. Could also be that yours is older than mine, with the light added in later years.
