About as good as any powerful upright with brush turn off. It also comes with a floor tool that can be used with the extension wands. |

Even better than this Panasonic is the red Kenmore Intuition Direct Drive upright. It's a similar design because it is made for Sears by Panasonic, but it has that great beltless brush roll which offers a gentle setting for delicate rugs. Consumer Reports gave high marks to that red Kenmore.
I think you may get better attachments with the Miele S7 though....:-) |

See the Kenmore Intuition Progressive, looks cheap and not well designed, like a mess. |

So, do you really want to purchase a kenmore when you wanted a Panasonic. Again the Panasonic, clean design. |

Indeed, the Panasonic looks like a nice machine. But people should not overlook the similar Kenmore. It is excellent at deep carpet cleaning with the Direct Drive brush roll. And statistics have shown that Kenmore uprights historically require fewer repairs than Panasonic ones. According to the "Brand Reliability" rankings done by Consumer Reports, 10% of Panasonic uprights bought between 2007 and 2011 had serious repair issues, compared to only 6% for Kenmore. The numbers are derived as follows:
From the CR website: "...we asked almost 96,000 readers who bought a vacuum between 2007 and 2011 about their experiences. The graph shows the percentage of models for each brand that were repaired or had a serious problem. Differences of less than 4 points aren't meaningful, and we've adjusted the data to eliminate differences linked solely to age and usage. Models within a brand may vary, and design or manufacture changes might affect future reliability. Still, choosing a brand with a good repair history can improve your odds of getting a reliable model." I actually prefer the colour of the Panasonic! And the bag disposal system looks great. :-) But I also really like the Kenmore with that Beltless Brush Roll with the motor inside. And the onboard turbo nozzle provided with the Kenmore.. :-) In the world of canisters, that red Panasonic cg902 is a great basic machine that performs really well. |

Only the top of the line MC-UG 787 has two motors. The other units have one motor and a clutch type release for the belt. |

I believe only Miele and maybe Lindhaus makes their own motors, the rest of the companies put stickers on 3rd party motors. |

How good are Lindhaus motors??? Is the Meile motor and the Lindhaus repairable? that Panasonic looks like it could be rebuilt. |

See link, has metal brush roll & bottom plate. I'm very glad you posted this. I now kick myself for not getting a slightly used UG787 when i had a chance last year. I'll have to track down one of these commercial versions to make it up to myself. That misty green color is nice though.

I saw this thread earlier today that I didn't even knew it existed so I thought I would share my own opinions on these Optiflows. I've used all the Optiflow models before at my old vacuum store when these were out in like the late 2000's. I actually liked the silver MC-UG775 model the best than the green MC-UG787 model because I find it cleans carpets a little better than the green model with a steel bottom plate and a 3-row steel brushroll. The blue MC-UG773 and the Ultra-Pro model cleans just about the same as the silver one because all three use the same design but the silver model offered a switch on the handle than on the body, it has a vac gauge light, and it has a switch to turn the brushroll off than the other two.
I see some members were wondering how these competed against like Miele, Kenmore, Kirby, or a tandem air vacuum. Well I've used all of them before so here's what I thought; Panasonic vs Miele: vegassucks said before they were both equal, I will have to agree because they both perform very well. But I perfer the Panasonic because it's a little more simple to use. Panasonic vs Kenmore intuition: Oh definitely the Panasonic was way much better because it does better on carpets, it's more quiet, and I can feel the Panasonic was more durable. Plus the parts are also much cheaper to get than the Kenmore. Panasonic vs Kirby: The Kirby is way much better on carpets but using the hose on the Panasonic was much more easier but it doesn't have enough airflow like the Kirby. Panasonic vs Tandem Air Riccar/Simplicity: The tandem air machines does WAY better on carpets but I like using the hose better on the Panasonic. But overall they were the most expensive Panasonics I have ever seen because they were sold between $500-$900. But I think they were the best models that Panasonic has ever made. So yeah that's my overall thoughts on these, if anybody asks what is the best Panasonic I have ever used, I would say the silver MC-UG775 was the best one I have ever used. |
