My Lovely wife brought a surprise home for me today.
Its a model 867A and was made in great Britain
I have wanted one of these for ages, I worked on two of these many many years ago and those are the only two I have ever seen, They were older versions than this one.

I am so happy with it, It even has its original floor tool but is missing the bent end at the hose end.
It can also do with a new paint job to get rid of those scratches.

My two sons were extremely excited to see it and wanted to see it hover but it was too clogged up when I switched it on. Motor runs sweetly though.

aren't they? And, they'll last for years. Great suction, too.

Fantastic. Very jealous indeed, blue and white is the one I’m missing.

Looks like a good machine polish will fix that paint, can't see any rust spots from the pictures anyway! They look good with a nice car glaze and coat of wax too...

Ok So i have a question, It doesnt Hover like the ones I remember. Infact it seems to be leaking air around the motor plate. I left my Hoover workshop manual at work by mistake so I cant tell if there is a rubber seal missing.

Can anyone give me any help on this.

Sam Unfortunately the white has a few rust bubbles that will need fixing.

Won't float

The sponge exhaust filter is most probably blocked solid after all these years. Try running the cleaner without it and seeing how you get on.

Mid seventies Connie

Hello Gareth,

I am very pleased for you, there is nothing like finding or even better being given something you really want.

I remember when that model was on the market.....I must be getting old!

By the way I have sent two emails to you about the VORWERK.

As my PC and email have been out of order could I take this opportunity to ask if you recieved them?

NB. I do have a few hoover dusting and all purpose brushes that are of the correct period if you would like them for the connie?

Regards, Walter.

Thanks Benny

I had removed it already when it first would not float, It turned out the Motor cover plate was badly bent, Some panel beating and she floated like new,

Some years back I got my hands on a Hoover workshop manual from 1964

Here are the diagrams for the Constellation.

If anyone has a similar service manual I am missing the pages from the 612-638 models if you would be willing to share.

Ok so freshly painted and the shell assembled.

So I changed up the colour scheme a bit. I thought it looked better this way. More like the designer would have imagined it. The bumper is still been bleached white.

Really?? REALLY?? Although I've never met you in person, I have come to know and respect you. I appreciate your passion and eye for detail. i KNOW my limitations. Restoration like THAT is not in my realm.

AAAH thank you John, I respect you greatly too.

Now, I MUST

gottahaveahoove's profile picture
find one of those 'flip' floor nozzles. WE never had them 'over here'. All in time, I'm sure.
Best of luck with your 'new machine'.

I'm with John -- I want to get my hands on one of those flip rug nozzles also!  They are too cool looking!

Beautiful restoration -- love the blue and white.  The blue handle and hose connector trim really tie it together nicely!  Congratulations!
