Hey gents and gentle ladies... it's been a while since I posted around here but I have certainly been lurking. Last month we decided that as a part of our remodel we would rid our house of 90 percent of our wall to wall carpet... **GASP** I know, but it was just too much work keeping up with six dogs and carpet. With that step, our beloved Rainbow E2 Black has become second fiddle to our Hoover Platinum Bagged Upright. I have posted the Rainbow on eBay in case anyone has interest. Please send me an offer as I will entertain any and all. I would like to see it go to a good home. It was used very sparingly. The Aquamate was only used once and the Rainjet was never even used. It's a great vac but just overkill for us now. --Andrew

Surprising choice

To each their own, but it seems like the Rainbow would be the better choice for bare floors and the Hoover upright for carpets. Care to share why you went the other way?

We have almost always had a water vac of some sort in the house(Big Power, Thermax, Rainbow, etc). The problem now that we have gotten rid of our carpets for the most part is that the getting the Rainbow out, setting it up, and vacuuming sans the power head just seems rather silly. The Platinum does a fine job on the hard floors and will really dig into the area rugs we do have. We also have 3 floors so going up and down stairs is better with the Platinum. I'm not saying we won't buy another high end vac at some point but until my dream come true of having a central vac with ports on each floor, the Rainbow is just overkill for us.
