Hi, I have a Royal 886/f and noticed after a while the motor casing gets pretty hot. I jus picked up today a Royal M1028z and noticed it doesn't get as nearly warm. Is this normal for the older models or is something wrong? I checked the brushes and they appear to be in good shape.
Thanks for any help
Mark

I've had kirby vacuums

Do the same thing, and it turned out the field coil was bad. I've also found that when the field goes bad, it usually takes the armature with it. Hope this helps.
