Electrolux Upright

 Great sales folder!Good vacuum,good information here on what were great and unique features.There was just one teeny,tiny,little problem here.If you follow the black arrows for 'dirty air'you will see why the early models quickly became a disaster.In the real world,real dirt and items real people pick up would clog!Over and over with almost every one sold(and then recalled).The were later fixed with an accesss door on base to easily reach the then straightened dirt path in case of more rare clog.Later models also aded a fifth screw to stop handle wobble and changed rear wheels from flat to round.

Round wheel

 Thanks for reminding me of the improvements . Dot Cook came around and told us to roll the cleaner to the customer's home. If the wheels got bad company would replace them. The bottom door and the knockout rod on the upright made many a customer happy if the salesman informed them about it. Sold quite a few of these uprights before Dll came out.
On the cleaner chart, the bottom one was Eureka, followed by Sears, Hoover, and then Kirby.

Electrolux

 Wheels-There was a rubber cover available later to allow salesman to roll down sidewalks,then remove for demo with no scratches on wheels.Also a carry case almost like sleeping bag for upright and handle with thumb screws for quick assembly.
Dot Cook-I knew salespeople that met and liked her.Her son was in this area once working with the summer Elux college program as I recall.

Jimmy: remember when that upright came out, there was no warning on the handle spring cover telling you NOT to remove the cover. That spring was under so much tension it took off a finger of one of the service men. And so the warning got engraved in the plastic.

spring injury

 There were still a few injuries after the warning was put on the upright and that was by repairmen at the independent shops. I knew of one that lost a finger . He said he didn't believe the cover thinking it was put on there to keep the people going to Electrolux and not them.So much for warnings.

Electrolux service

 I had not heard of this but was aware of cordwinder spring injuries.There was a spring hold down tool and screwdriver for tamperproof screws in the Elux service depts for the UR.After the clogging problem was fixed they required little repair unless abused.Some cords would break at back cover if not held up when upper cord hook was rotated.The 2 gear belts on magnetic clutch were very trouble free (unlike a certain modern vac with 2 smooth belts on a clutch).

Are bags/belts and brush rolls still avalible for these vacs? Was thinking someone said on here once that bags were no longer avalible at all.
