Here is this very unusual 707 that should be done up in a wild scheme of greens. This one is a powder blue similar to the Penncrest machines of the era. This one is from about 1974 as it wears the taupe base, taupe wheels, and has a plastic bag collar. This is the before. It is in very good shape. Thanks Stephen for finding it in that mess of a thrift store. You have a good eye!

Here is the under side of the machine. It was used but used lightly. The wheels show very little use and there is no rust to be found. This one stayed in a nice dry closet over the years and never found its way to a wet basement.

Here is what was inside the vinyl jacket. It had an genuine Hoover C bag installed and was a little full. Overall, they seemed to like this machine. It had been serviced with a new "bojack" cord installed at some point.

Now for a bath in "Trend" and the dirt just disappears. I only washed the bottom plate, bag jacket and bag collar, hood, and lens. The rest gets cleaned by hand. I let the bag dry over night which leaves it fresh. You could use any kind of detergent you want. Some say put these bag jackets in the washer. I just wash by hand and let drip dry.

I wonder what Hoover called this color? I have never seen one done up like this before.

Here is the full monty...she runs beautifully. I did have to clean out the agitator and grease the bearings. Now it just purrs and of course...beats as it sweeps as it cleans!

what a sharp, crisp color that blue is. seems like a cross between powder and robins egg blue. the hood, bumper and bag just jump out. very nice.

I'm in awe also.....

Wow Tom,

That's one of the most beautiful Convertibles that I've ever seen before. Definitely the Penncrest Blue color that you stated.

Good eye there Stephen!

That is different, I have seen several pictures of the green version, but never this color set. I wonder if this was original or some kind of vac shop type rebuild job?

Beautiful

I love the baby blue color. You did a great job in cleaning it up, it looks like it should be out on the sales floor of the department store.

I did not realize that the outer bags could be soaked in the sink. I think I will try that with mine, as merely wiping it down just doesn't seem to be getting the job done. I think I will try Woolite.

Hi Tom, another fab classic, the colour is georgous, great to see how other collectors renovate their machines as well,

Perhaps we should include this "Clean Up" at one of the VCCC convention workshops...the "Complete Before & After"..

Enjoy, Mike
