Jay,
In that photograph (it's obviously recycled), the uprights pictured are (from left): model 153, 602, 801, 880, 611 and 608 (the last two being commercial duty models). All six of those models had been replaced when this revision of the catalog was printed. I've seen that one before, actually. The tank is a model 401 pictured with the optional 597 power nozzle. By 1987 it was superseded by models 404 and 405 (the latter same as the former but with the model 600 power nozzle included). The hand vacuum is, of course, the model 501. Lastly, there is the model 231 canister. The picture attached below shows the same 1980 lineup, but in color. This is from a brochure dated June 1986, courtesy of John Lucia. ~Ben |

Jae,
The 153 was the BOL (bottom-of-line) Royal with no headlight whatsoever (like the 611 commercial). In late 1985 it was superseded by the model 154, so like I said before, that picture was recycled. By 1983, the model 602 was given a new tan outer bag with the same lettering style. I know, because I found a 602 on eBay dated March of 1983 which has the newer tan bag on it. In late 1985, it was replaced by the model 604. ~Ben |
