Hey hang. I need some help. When I slide the switch on both my riccars to the bare floor position, the brush continues to spin and wears on the belt heavy enough to make it smell like its burning. I changed e belt on both and must have not hooked up the clutch part right. When the vacuum is off and I slide the witch to bare floor the brush spins freely as of the belt is off. Can someone shed some light on what's going on? Thank you very much.

Check our Vacuumfreeke's thread about his Simplicity 7850 for the pictures of the proper positioning of the linkage rod and 'forked tongue' portions of the brush roller. They must be in the correct position or the machine will experience the issues you're having. The only other cause of the issues might be that the rubber clutch pad has become stuck to the face of the clutch plate. A simple, inexpensive repair.
