I just bought a used 3M electronics service vac today at the Llocal ReStore for $10, and must say it's got pretty good suction for a smaller vac. The filter cartridge is like new, and new ones online are anywhere from $17-$30. The HEPA ones are closer to $30, whereas the one in mine (which can handle copier toner btw!) are $17-$20.

I can put up pics if you want, but it is basically a small toolbox shaped vac.

These things go for around $300 too!

Here's one on amazon now:

I used one of those at a job for the Gov't-in Wash DC-they had several 3M machines.Worked well-but since they were designed to vacuum out printers and copiers-the "filter" cartridge fills quickly and is expensive-they had several of those filters. The machines had a short hose-you could almost play a tune on the machine as you stretched and contracted the hose. The vacuum had a slender attachment sort of like what new Rainbows have and a crevice tool with the brush in its end like Kirbys. All in all a good little vacuum-but of course designed for servicing copiers and printers and not as a "general" vacuum. The job I was on used them for studio maintenance and cleaning out electronics equipment.

Yeah, it's definitely a specialized vac, but since I do computer and telecom repair in my spare time, I figured for $10, I can't go wrong. Mine is missing the hose, but has the crevice tool, brush, and the wand for tight places. The filter looks new as well.

It wouldn't be a good household vac for around the house, that's for sure!

Also a hose with the standard sized ends works just fine.
