Such was the price tag on this Electrolux Vacuum Cleaner, a few weeks back, at a local estate sale. There was also a Kirby G-5 at the same estate sale, marked $165.00. I looked over the Electrolux, and as you can see from the pictures, it is not worth $100.00. I mean, the power nozzle plastic wand was cracked, the hose had electrical tape on the handle. I mentioned this to the person running the sale. I said, "You will be lucky if you even get $10.00 for it, in the condition that it is in." Anyway, I passed it up. This was about less than a month ago. I told myself, "chances are it'll either end up in the trash or a thrift store." The lady at the estate sale said, "Come back tomorrow, (Saturday) as everything will be 50 per cent off." I said to myself, "Nobody's going to even pay $50.00 for that Electrolux with the wand all cracked and broken and the hose all taped up." Well, as luck would have it, apparently nobody bought it, even at the bargain price of $50.00! So, Today, I stopped by the local thrift store, and wouldn't you know it--There was the Electrolux! Same Vacuum Cleaner, broken wand all electrical-taped up. $8.00! So, I guess I came out all right. I don't know what the estate sale lady was thinking. . .
I bought the Electrolux for $8.00. I figure I have enough parts to fix it up--the vacuum body itself is in pretty good shape. It says Model 1521. It looks like it might be a Grand Marquis? It's light grey with blue trim.

$8.00 isn't too bad as long as it's motor runs pretty good! I agree, there's no way I would pay $100, $50, or even $20 for one in that kind of condition, but where you have the spare parts, you should have a really nice vacuum in no time! Good call on that one though, checking in the thrift store for it!

I believe that is what's called the Grand Marquis based on the color scheme of it; correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the 1521 series include the Diamond Jubilee, Marquis, Grand Marquis, and the UltraLux?

Nice Lux. I paid $10.00 for my Olympia I at a flea market.
