That building on Roosevelt Road was next door to where my Dad worked (Hotpoint, 5600 West Taylor Street).
Many years ago I dropped off my Sunbeam Courier Cordreel there for a cordreel replacement. Unfortunately I never picked it up and it went down with the building I guess. The building was huge with a factory and repair and parts center. Refurbished goods were available. ... And Mom got her Coffeemaster repaired there after she immersed the immersible. Sadly, it was all knocked down and it is a shopping mall now I think. Someone put their kids through school fixing vacs and coffeemakers. Sad those jobs are gone. You couldn't throw a stone in my neighborhood without hitting someone who worked for Sunbeam or Hotpoint. |
