Hi Guys, I got a Dirt Devil Broom Vac, the little Red One With the Bag and Kind've reminds me of an Oreck. Anyway, I've never done any real Fixing up on a Vacuum, I want to take it apart and look at the motor and also Oil The Brushroll, are these complex to work on ? I've never oiled a Brushroll or even work on a motor.

Thanks.

I've never..

...worked on the motor of mine, but the vacuum itself is super simple to get into, much like the plastic handvacs it's just a two sided shell housing the motor. And sticking a little bit of grease on the brushroll caps after you pull them off is very easy :)

Dirt Devil brush

Early models may have the 1-2-3 adjusments to compensate for bristle wear. Both ends should be at the same and correct setting. If you see no cracks or melted area on fan it should be a good small vac.

Well I've got Rid Of the Screws holding the Plastic Shell Together and I plan to clean out the motor. Is the Motor Tricky to get back into the two Plastic Shells ? I also plan on washing the bag, will the color and Logos Fade ?

Maybe I'll post Pictures of the Motor Before and After so you can See the Horrors, because I haven't opened the Shells, only got the screws out. I know the motor is going to be Extremely Gritty.

well have you ever taken apart a dirt devil hand vac? if you have, its the same concept, and the bag will be fine, when i first got mine, i took it out back in a tub, or bucket and use a bit of tide, of any of your favorite laundry detergent and just wash it by hand, it came out like new, now back to the motor...hell yes it is going to be extremely gritty, so have a shopvac or any vacuum with a hose to suck all of that out, and just kinda dust it out, i never even took the motor completely out, i just used the dusting brush to dust it all out.
let us know how it goes.

I have all the tips and tricks needed for all of a broom vac. I have restored a red 702, and a blue pro series 737. Hope it went well! (p.s. the carbon brushes from a hand vac can be used on a broom vac)
