OMG! :( NOO, im sorry mate, that happened to my DC05 too, smoke filled the front room and had a disgusting smell, theni stuck a dc07 motor in and VROOM! it worked :D |

The red color is GORGEOUS. A new motor shouldn't cost too much, especially if you have a friend with a vac shop who might get it for you at wholesale. I love my DC05 MotorHead - and my DC05 Absolute - but to have one in that beautiful shade of red would be excellent. Congrats on a very nice machine that so easily can be restored. The motor is the heart of the machine. So a new motor means it will be virtually a new machine.
