Here is the latest haul from thrifting today. We did well aned the weather was nice and dry. Stephen from D.C. came in on Friday to do some Hoover searching. He found several that he liked.

Stephen found this very nice orange Eureka upright that ran perfectly. It had a wooden brush roll. He also picked up two restorable model 69 Convertible cleaners. We were able to make one very good original cleaner. Stephen picked up this mint condition one owner orange Convertible from the early 1980s. It had seen VERY little use and looks like new. It even had its owners manual still. Stephen picked up a Concept Two with the working electronic speed control complete with the piggy back cleaner on board. He is going home with some real finds!

Impressive!

WOW! What a great day of thrifting for you both! I particularly like that powder blue convertible. It must be wonderful living in "the hoover city," I bet you find lots of gems.

Great job Kids...

You made quite a haul. I can't believe the orange convertible. Looks like it was set up on display in the Hoover store! Have fun! Go vacuum Tom's front room carpet, it never gets the cleaning it should! HA!

Hey Tom,

I had a great time at your house Friday afternoon. We got back to PA safely. Thanks for helping me get my Hoover 700 running. Thanks for the Hoover 300 and U437-042 they are both awesome. Stephen it was great to meet you and I'm glad you liked playing with my DAM Power Drive.

Great finds Tom, sorry I could not join you guys on your vacuum hunt. BTW, out favorite thrift store is having a 50% off sale on everything in the joint next Saturday, starting at 9am. Paul and I plan on being there, want to join us? Also, they are opening a new store in the Akron area soon! Yeah!

Here is Stephen with his pride and joy, the Hoover Concept Two Electronic. This will be his daily driver since it has the on board hand held cleaner that will make cleaning up after his birds a breeze. This machine really digs the dirt from the rug and is very quiet. I have to admit that the electronic feature for the motor speed is very neat. This Hoover dates from around 1983 for the company's 75th anniversary. Happy Hoovering!

Thanks for the nice words guys. We had a great time today. The powder blue convertible is very unusual and I am still trying to figure out what is up with it. In "Hoover City" there are lots of good "pickins".

Rick...

The orange Convertible is like new. I bet it has only seen maybe 3 or 4 bags of dirt in its life. We have used it around the house. I have to say that this weekend we have had lots of vacuuming so there is very little left in the way of dirt in the house.

Matt...

It was a pleasure to meet you and your parents. I look forward to the next time that we can get together. You are quite welcome for the vacuums. I know that they have a good home. Just be SURE to vacuum for your mom! I had lots of fun running vacuums. Thanks again for taking the time to stop by. Glad to know that you guys all made it home safely!

Jimmy...

Thanks for the invite. I really hope that they open up another store in the area. The ReStore is an awesome place. Stephen found a model 69 Convertible there today for a great price! They were very busy today.

It has been a great weekend of vacuuming and thrifting. It always seems to go by much too quickly. And Fred, I could not say it any better....Yay Thrift Stores!!!

Good clean fun in North Canton. Real nice selection, guys.

I didn't have enough appreciation for uprights until Pete introduced me to the joys of Power Drive. Just makes the hoovering less of a workout.

Looking forward to my roadtrip down araound your way in Hoover City in 4 weeks or so, Tom.

Dave

Great array of finds!

Maybe I should move to Perivale to see if there's any rich pickin's round there!

Great to get such a mint plastic convertible, and two model 69s that make one good machine with some spare parts to boot.

Those Concept Two's look like great fun! Wish we got them over here.

Congats on the finds. It would take years to get that many good ones around here.
Can anyone tell what model the light blue convertible is? I love that color. Is it the match to the blue 86 connie?
Thanks
Nicholas

It's like Christmas come early. I'm awaiting a Concept Two to show up that still has its minivac intact. The few I've run across it's always missing. Hindsight I should have taken them regardless.
Re Stephen and birds..do you breed birds? Interested to know since I bred and showed mostly canaries and budgies (parakeets) for quite a number of years as a hobby. Notwithstanding the numerous other types I kept.

Again, glad to see that you guys had fun. Now back to chopping my firewood........getting cold in NY.

I want to thank Tom and Heather for their wonderful hospitality! I had a great time and I can't wait to make it up to North Canton again.

Re: Pete's question about birds..I don't breed birds as a hobby but they are fun to have as pets. I have a rainbow lory and a monk parrot.

Oh, the electronic control on the Concept Two is AWESOME! It definitely sets this vacuum apart from my other vacuums.

Stephen

Stephen, have you got any pictures of your Eurekas that you could post. I'd like to see those. Always seems like the poor Eurekas never get as much air time as the Hoovers.
