I found this very nice Dial-A-Matic at the Salvation Army for $20 the other day and I couldn't leave it behind. As if I needed another DAM...but I have a soft spot for them. I'm pretty excited about this one considering its condition. I haven't taken the time to disassemble and clean it yet, but it shouldn't be difficult considering how nice it is already. The only problem was the fill tube on the bag door was clogged all the way through, which I found strange since it had a near new bag in it. Clearly not a problem for me though. Thought I'd share.

Looks great!

That blue color looks really cool. Hoover used such nice colors for their machines. I'll be taking delivery of my first Dial A Matic this weekend. Can't wait to have another fabulous Hoover!

Gorgeous machine! That one should look brand new when you're finished.

That is the same model my mother had when she was first married! It is model 1136, made from 1971-1974, finished in Flemish Blue and shades of Taupe. For me, this was the Hoover that started it all! Many fond memories of this cleaner!

There's always "one" that starts everything.

Vacuums, for me HOOVERS, cats and potato chips are similar: you never can have just ONE. The only thing beter than a Dial-A-Matic, is TWO Dial-A-matics. Do you have bags for this? Now, you need tools, you KNOW you do.

I have plenty of bags for Dial-A-Matics! This one even came with a new package of them. I also have a set of original tools complete with the original vinyl bag they came in!

Childhood machine

This is the machine I grew up with 1982 - 1997. DAM was still working when we banished it to the garage and while away at college, parents trashed it.
