As many of you know from my recent posts I am in the process of replacing the original motor on my 18-year-old Electrolux Renaissance C104A.

Aerus wanted an insane $250 for the replacement part, so I ordered an aftermarket model. As you can see from the attached pics, the aftermarket model differs slightly from the oem in that the oem is raised somewhat in the center at the air intake, with the internal fins being slightly higher, presumably to increase airflow.

I took apart the oem motor and have separated the metal and plastic bottom part containing the raised fins from the rest of the motor. I was considering attaching this part of the oem motor to the aftermarket, but I wanted to know if there are any bearings/bushings contained within this part of the motor, making staying with the all new motor the wise choice, or if the fins in the metal and plastic part simply spin around the center bolt, thereby making no difference?

Thanks.

just put the motor in

The replacement motor will fit just fine. The rubber gasket at the back of the bag housing will still make a seal on the motor. There is a bearing in the black part between the field coil and the fans, so trying to swap out the fans will not work. And your armatures might be slightly different in length.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply. I was concerned about something not matching up.

no problem

I guess I happen to be on at the right time. I also didn't want you taking those motors apart and run the risk of not getting a working one back together.
