Yes, especially in light of the previous topic that some considered the Dirt Devil as cheap rubbish. All hail the Swift upright - I still don't like them though.

To be fair though, tests vary all around the world, so its near impossible to find a universal brand or a product that meets the same criteria worldwide = plus there's so many other variables to take into account - the testers aren't showing if they are actually weighing the dust that each vacuum picks up, but rather comment on the filtration methods etc.

Very good point sebo-fan. When I was in college I majored in environmental science. We did a lot of laboratory tests and work. One of the facts of testing that I never got used to was when my tests did not match real-world events. I complained to the teacher relentlessly trying to work it out. He just shrugged and said "welcome to science you'll just have to get used to that because it will almost never match." Hard and very disapointing lesson to learn but I had to realize it and learn to live with it. Lab tests almost never correlate to real world events or performance.

... what we see here are the "best" of only those vacuums sold at the most popular *retail* outlets.

If Consumer Reports wanted to REALLY serve the consumers' interest, they'd evaluate ALL vacuums, including the Aerus ... Kirby ... Rainbow ... etc.
