This was a gift from Chase from last summer. I have just gotten around to cleaning it, and it was in pretty good shape. Some bumps and bruises here and there, but mainly just dirty.
I have the bag soaking, and I have just finished dismantling and cleaning everything.
Here are some pictures, enjoy. I'll also post one when the machine is completely finished.

Hey,

Thats a pretty low mileage twin fan there. Nice that it's a metal base so it's not as loud as a jet taking off. Seems like whomever had that used it very little, or ended up not liking it and used something else. Nice score!!

If you're interested...

Here is a YouTube clip..
I have never EVER encountered a Twin Fan upright that has run so smoothly. It just purrs, there is no motor whine or searing, or anything of that nature. The bottom and brushroll are all like new. The base has no paint loss and one corner scrape about the size of a pea. That being said, i don't think this machine was used much. There are no breaks in the cord, and it is clean. The bag has been washed, and is still soft vinyl with no rips either.

Just a chime in....

The Sunbeam Company only made their own canister vacuums, and maybe their scrubber buffers to my knowledge.

Sunbeam, I think found the cost of making their very OWN upright too high, or maybe just never even tried to make their own. However, to stay competitive they needed an upright.. So, they farmed out for an upright, and ended up choosing Singer Sewing Machine Company, who rebadged/re-bodied their then current TWIN-Fan style upright for them. There was also TMK a three or four model tier kinda thing. This one being at or near the bottom. I know someone who has this same color match to the era of machine, but his has a Cord Reel, and a Headlight. Which usually denoted a TOL model.

IMHO, These machines if properly set-up, properly used, properly maintained and serviced when needed, were for the time one of the better vacuums. They WERE louder than average, and were more "quirky" than a contemporary Hoover Convertible. At the time the machine that every vacuum was judged against.

However, when the average housewife used it like most of the world uses their vacuums they did NOT hold up too well. Singers had higher than average mortality rates it seems. This example was used very lightly and so it survived. I personaly have a upper middle of the line later model with a two-speed handle switch, and a headlight done in the more familiar drab green colors of the seventies. I also have a few Singers that are low mileage and look very similar to this...

I love these TwinFans....

What an interesting vacuum cleaner

Here in South- Africa, we were more familiar with the small sunbeam canister vac's. They were sold in the category of the toshiba's, sanyo, hitachi's and then of course the sunbeam. Although all from Japan they were very similar in many ways, but earned respect as they went along. This of Course the mid 70's to mid 80's.

Small however powerfull and Cheap at the time.

I have never seen an upright sunbeam, and absolutely love the one you posted above. It is so cool. I wonder what it looks like in the borttom and did you have an option of tools, or not.

Very very nice.
