DC02

The DC02 certainly looks like the Fantom Lightening we had years ago here in the states..think there was any kind of connection there?

There is a sort of connection. I'm not clear on the facts but I believe Dyson worked for awhile in Canada for Fantom and then struck out on his own.

DC02/Fantom

Hi everyone,

Nice Dyson collection Shanon! I have a silver/yellow DC04 at home. Always on the look out for them thrown out though! I like the look of the DC18, how is it to use compared to regular wheeled uprights?
Regarding the DC02 and Fantom Lightening, I believe Fantom originally licenced the dual cyclone technology from James Dyson for the upright models, then licenced the entire design for the cylinder (canister) model. This was years ago now, as the dc05 replaced the dc02 in 1998 i think?

He he he... Gotta love connections... Yeah it was something like that with Fantom... Sir James Dyson mentions it in his autobiography... Will have to re read it..

The DC05 and DC02 were being sold side-by-side for about 2 to 3 years... Eventually DC02 was phased out as DC05 is lighter and more powerful.

"The Ball" in the DC15 was the first major upgrade to the upright range and it is good... Think of using an upright like you use a cylinder... Only heavier and more powerful.

DC18 sacrifices a bit of power but not too much and is much lighter. DC15 also had the motor in the ball but DC18 has it low on the main body. It is the machine I use often,
