Hey guys.. Thought I would share a few pictures of the Miele Alize. I own a vacuum sales and service shop, and I sell Miele. This is one model I haven't had much experience with as it is a straight suction canister. I ordered one to bring home, and also ordered the electric hose and SEB-236 power nozzle. Some of the things that make this such a cool machine are the spot light in the hose handle, and the Dynamic Drive wheels underneath the canister that make pulling it over thresholds or from different flooring types very smooth! Here are a few pics :)

That machine is very nice looking. I love the color! How does it compare to the S5?

It is a nice looking vac. What are 'dynamic drive wheels' and how do they work? Why is the light on the handle battery operated as opposed to A/C?

Thanks.

Gary

I like the light in the handle-grip! Is that a new floor tool-rug nozzle? I've not seen that one before.

Hey welcome Derreck, I'm absolutely thrilled you decided to join!

Of all of Fred's more modern vacuums in the house the Miele is by far my favorite. There are a number of things I like about it, they just seem so much better built and sturdy. The thing I like best is how quiet it is.

Of course I don't do much vacuuming as Fred has that covered (I love that) but when I do, I like to grab that Miele. It's like vacuuming with a Cadillac.

Hey Robert.. Thank You! Mieles are very pleasant machines to use. The quietness, quality, and 0 micron emission are all awesome features.

The S8 series are Miele's new full size canister vacuums. With regards to differences from the S5 series, they feature a comfort cord winder which requires a single press of the cord retract button to completely wind in the cord as opposed to having to hold your foot on the button. They have also bumped up the warranty on a couple of the models, and all S8 series canister have +/- controls either on the canister or on the hose handle. They are also a bit lighter due to "skeleton construction".

The “Dynamic Drive” wheels are wheels with integrated shock absorbers and inflated tires that absorb impact from grouted tile and thresholds.

As far as the battery controlled light, I think they did that to keep the machine simple with a non-electric hose.

The AirTeq tool is very cool! It has a flexible wheel carriage on it, so on the backstroke, only the wheels lift off of the floor, instead of the entire tool, so that suction power stays constant on the floor.

This is exactly...

what I did with ours too! I love the silent movement of the canister on the laminate flooring, due to the dynamic drive. I use the Auto setting always, love the "park" feature that puts the unit to sleep. I like using the non electric setup for the laminate, switching to the electric set for the carpeted bedrooms. I am also a big fan of the neutral color of the Alize. Sara fell in love with her immediately, and I had to add the electric hose, wand and nozzle to make her work for our home. Could have opted for the Marin, but would have lost the dynamic drive feature, which is super awesome, and the light weight non electric hose and wands are so easy to use on the hard floors.

I totally agree.. love the light weight hose and wand for the hard floors.. And the wheels are amazing!!
