Hi everyone, I decided that today I would do an update video on YouTube of my Vacuum cleaner collection, so I thought since I had them all out I would do a thread about it too.

I will start With my Hoovers, since they make up most of my collection I thought why not.

Here are my Hoover Juniors, starting on the left - Refurbished 1346 style Junior 2009, in the middle - U1012 Junior 1976 and at the end 1334E Junior 1967.

Alex, is the 1334E Junior a metal hood/base vacuum? That's my favorite style of the Juniors. Is the handle taller on that one, or is it just an illusion? I don't have a vast knowledge of the Juniors, but when did Hoover discontinue that line? Very nice collection btw, and yes, I see you're an upright person!

Post# 226281 , Reply# 12   4/3/2013 at 13:50 (4,011 days old) by AlexHoovers94 (Manchester UK)
Hi

alexhoovers94's profile picture
The 1334E is a plasic body, earlier versions of the 1334 would of had a metal body like the "pink and white" one. The underside of the fan chamber is metal base. The handle and handle release is metal though. The handel on the U1012 and the 1334E is the same length, it is just the angle I took the picture from so will just be an illusion. I believe the 1334E was discontinued in 1970 I think. The 1334E ran along side the 1346 as the base model in 1967 so I imagine by 1970 it would of been discontinued altogether.
Maybe if someone with more knowlege can help you better but I imagine that was the way of it.

Hi. There, great collection! If you don't mind me asking I have a few questions...
1: I thought you had a Kirby heritage 2 ledgend?
2: I thought you had 2 DC01 destijls?
3: I thought you had a 2008 Henry HVR20022?
Sorry to ask so many questions, but i am a nosy pig lol:)

Hi Dyson Destijl...

alexhoovers94's profile picture
The Heritage ll Legend went to a friend of mine, Michael (thekirbylover) I have not had that machine for over a year now :P
I still have the other DC01 Destijl but it is in pieces, I now use it for spares :)
The 2006 Henry now lives with my sister as she was using a vax swift for hard flooring and that was more than motivation for me to give it to her! haha.

Don't worry, ask as many questions as you want.

I never liked the George, I always thought it was to big and bulky, loud and wasn't all that great at shampooing. The hand tool that comes with the George is great, however. Since I didn't like it as a shampooer and most of the time you would only use it for dry vacuuming anyway, which I would of just used the Henry for that, I had no use or need for it. I only used it to shampoo and at that it was only used about 6 times so was practically new. I hope Chris enjoys it anyway.

Wish my collection was like that, mine is a puny selection of old Dysons in the corner of my conservatory.
And it doesn't help that mine is techincally spread over two houses, mine and my grandparent's, who have my Hoover TurboPower 2 U2464 and my pathetic Electrolux Z119 (I think that's the model) and the Goblin Topo which I have no clue on the model number. I will however list them, (and their multiple problems) but the grouping is meagre compared to you're vacuum colossus. Oh, and all the Dyson's par the DC07 have lost various degree's of suction.

MY HOUSE:

  • Dyson DC01 Standard 1996

  • Dyson DC02 Standard 1997

  • Dyson DC03 Standard 1997 - Hose torn, terrible suction

  • Dyson DC07 Brush Control 2001 - Needs new whole bin/cyclone assembly

  • Electrolux Cylinder Vacuum 2006 - Total rubbish, hose torn, wheel falls off every 2 minutes, big crack in the dirt tank so dust leaks out and precariously avoids the motor.

  • Bosch Cylinder Vacuum 1994 (?) - Not sure on model number, little red thing that is used for the car mostly, it has a variable power control dial but it is buried under many moons worth of junk in the garage.

GRANDPARENTS HOUSE:

  • Hoover TurboPower 2 U2464 1994 - Good vacuum, nice to be behind the wheels of a Hoover for a change! The logo is missing from the handle (purely cosmetic, but me and my ways like everything to be perfect and original!) Plus the handle at the back is snapped off so winding the cable us usually involves winding the cable round the body rather scruffily, but it stay's there. It has only had approximately three years of use as it was placed in a loft in 1997 after my grandmother not being able to grapple with the Hoover because of its weight, so it was replaced with the Panansonic MCE-468 which in itself is a great vacuum. The Hoover does need a new belt and it has a bearing issue, pointed out to me via my YouTube videos. Ta Alex :-)

  • Goblin Topo 1400 2003 - This is a very neat little vacuum, in great condition too as it was permanently kept in a static caravan for seven years, and has only ever had approximately two years work, as the caravan was not used more than 2/3 times per year.

Thanks for putting up with my lengthy post, I know my collection isn't very good, but with the car boot season starting soon, I hope to pick up some great deals!

Cheers

Jacob

Chris certainly does enjoy it!

I do agree with Alex, it is big, loud and awkward, but I needed a 3in1 wet and dry cleaner and something to use when decorating or doing any kind of messy tasks. The Contour, Powerline and 1000 were all just taking up room - I don't think I've used the 1000 since I got it about 18 months ago. The swap made perfect sense to both of us.

Your collection is great! Im not such a Dyson fan as you that i'd get lots of them, but I was tempted by an half price offer for the DC38 mini ball cyclinder at a nationwide chain store a few months ago and its become my daily machine. I love it! it suits us as we have mainly hard floors it's so easy to use you hardly ever have to tug on the hose it just seems to follow you! :)

Hi there Dan,
I Love the DC18, I seen one at the scrap yard, but the gates were locked, I saw it through the gaps between the gates. I was so happy, I wanted it, next morning when it was open, I asked the man there if I could have it, he sadly said no, I was so annoyed then. PS I had the Electrolux Workzone too, I loved it, it was noisy but the best handheld I used.
Kind Regards,
Tayyab Parwaz

You mean the HVR200 with red Henry Lettering old bucket design with no anti-tip guard at the back (unlike the new ones) with powerhead socket, rocker switch with 1000 watt motor and cord rewind, those are from around 1990-1996 ish. That one?

Post# 227011 , Reply# 52   4/6/2013 at 15:16 (4,008 days old) by parwaz786 ( )

Yes, Thanks Alex :D; [ That's exactly what I am looking for, I used my Cousin's 2007 Henry HVR200 with rocker switches, it dam dam powerful, I would love a machine like that, but I'd like a quieter Henry because all my vacuums I have are loud lol, it would be nice to have a quiet vacuum for a change that still cleans up like a powerful machine

They wouldn't happen to be Dysons, would they? :P You do have ear dependers, don't you? :P haha.

Anyway the henrys are generally quite, especially the new ones and the early 2000's ones.

BTW Jacob, Your DC03 would be better with a new post motor filter, all blockages cleared, fully cleaned cyclone, and if you want to get a new brushbar, clutch and the seals for it, you would have an excellent Dyson :)
With the DC01, filters should work, and How's the DC04 doing? :)
