Hi Justin Although the gold series is a bit louder then the blue platinum and the black onyx. The first E Series (single speed) has the carbon brushes and that one too is quieter then the gold series. Also the seperators are different for the single speed then the 2 speed & the hepa filters too. They are all great machines and am still impressed by what the water has in it each time. I know that mine will be used overtime this alergy season. One other thing i'd like to mention from my experience since my parents first got the chrome dome model and the d4se they do last taken care of properly. We only had to get a new seperator once and I still have both machines and they work great. I hope this helps! Cheers!! Mark

Has anyone had problems with the circuit/computer board going out? It's on all of the two speed Rainbows |

Do you know that the circuit board is roughly around $200 to replace and that Rainbow has made it to where the average repairman can't easily fix or replace it? Unless you're really good you can. |

If it appears like this 01121764 105 It should mean it was made January of 2005. I'm pretty sure that's how it works but don't hold me to it because I'm not 100 percent sure |

I have the the first E2 single speed, the Gold & the Platinum Blue, now the difference between those to is only the colour & the inside of the machine has a white sound muffle wrapped around the motor making it just a bit quieter then the Gold series. Also from what my Rainbow tech. told me is in the back above where you wrap the cord is a vent that pulls air in to cool the circuit board . . . take the dusting brush & vacuum the vent off to make sure you are getting air to pull in. That will save you all the worry about it over-heating. Also on the Gold Series, the top part of the machine seems to get more warm then the Blue due to the sound proofing inside. He also told me (when I talked to him this past Thurs) about the circuit boards he said he's only gotten one in & that was a Black Onyx one that a lady had abused. Easy fix & I hope your machines last a very long time. They are built tough & only a few items will break from use I.E. the clamps, the wheels, the door where the power hose connects to, the ends on the hose that you squeeze together, the dolly release that you step on, & mine LOL the pan when I dropped it & it cracked. Hope this helps guys! Have a good one!!! Mark

A serial number written like this:
XXXXXXXX 105 denotes that the body housing was made first quarter of 05. There will only be 1,2,3, or 4 as the first digits. The circuit board is quite tough in the Rainbow. They are warrantied for 8 years. They are very easy to replace, as it's extremely easy to work on any 2 speed Rainbow with the Hurricane (brushless) switched reluctance motor. |
