Ok, so Yesterday I got a pumpkin colored hoover constellation model 858, and a hoover celebrity quiet series, that is white and green. He also included bags for the celebrity, and a load of hoover type "C" bags. He also gave me a belt for a hoover convertible. Both work good, and the celebrity is in pretty good shape, and has all the attachments, but the constellation, not so much. It is a little bit rusty but not horribly rusted. It also has a tear in the hose that I had to tape, and it is missing the two wands and the rug nozzle. Whoever had this machine before him was using a dirty towel as a filter! I took a fairly clean dust rag of mine, and cut it to shape the filter housing. He didn't include constellation bags, so I cleaned out the old bag with my dyson, even though I know you should not do that. It does seem to work well though, very quiet. He said the vacuums were going to get thrown away by his brother, so he took them to sell. He said he will look for the missing constellation parts. Luckily, I have a newer hoover rug nozzle and two generic vacuum wands that fit the constellation, so it can be used as it is. Eventually I am going to repaint the constellation. I paid $50 for everything I purchased. Is that a good deal? Also, could someone tell me the age of both of these machines? Thanks for the help!-Mitchell

I'd say both are 1970's. The Hoover Celebrity QS might be early 80's as the QS series was later line of Celebrity series. The QS series was either straight suction or had Hoover's Quadraflex power nozzle.

Post pictures of your machines with serial numbers and someone on here will figure out dates much better. I love power nozzle canisters, so I'm definitely curious if your Celebrity has the Quadraflex PowerMatic!

Thanks for the input! I will post pictures soon. The Celebrity is a "quadriflex powermatic."
