This the 1060 that Fred and Charlie used as a working demonstrator at the Omaha convention two weeks ago. They made a perfect presentation and demonstration of restoring a Hoover Convertible. I found this 1060 at an estate sale a year or so ago - one of the better ones I've seen, most are used and abused within an inch of their lives. Jeff brought the bag, washed it in a Maytag washer the night of the wash-in and I reassembled it last week. I've used it for a few cleanings in the living room and it works beautifully - what a wonderful new sound it has, I just love the ramp-up starting "whine".

hey Greg!

Congrats. If you want that brown stuff offthe handle use alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and fine steel whool. It won't hurt the paint!

Ah you've gotta keep the brown stains, nothing quite beats the years old mystery stains from a complete strangers house for character.

Nothing Like the purrrr of a Convertible

Great machine, Greg. I've got the 1070 but like the darker brown color scheme of the 1060. Plus, my best friends mom had a 1060, a replacement for her model 63 which became the upstairs vacuum.

These machines just seem to go forever!!!

Am glad to have a 1060!

Several years ago I got a 1060 at a yard sale. Think I paid $10.00. After I got it, Jeff Parker told me in an e-mail what a great machine it is and when it was introduced. It is a great machine!

Yay!

So glad that it turned out well! And with some new parts and greased bearings, that thing will definitely purr!

Happy Hoovering!

I think many will agree with me that this is the Hoover Convertible at its very best. They just purr and clean carpet. Just think no expensive filters either!!! You have a nice example of a late 60's Hoover. Oh by the way, the last of the Hoover Company's employees here in North Canton left the factory for the last time this weekend. After 99 years on the square in North Canton, no more Hoover products are being produced. It is truly the end of an era. Long live the "classic" Hoover cleaners though!

yep, I have to agree

the 1060 was the Convertible's finest hour, and one beautiful machine at that!

Has the Hoover building been sold?

Has the Hoover building in North Canton now been sold? If so, who bought it; and what do they plan to do with it?

I have to add my Hoover story. A few weeks ago I was in North Canton on vacation with my parents(my idea to go to North Canton)and I saw the Hoover building with my own eyes I have to say a chill went down my spine. Later that day I had the great pleasure of going to see Hoover guru Tom Anderson (myhooverco) and Stephen Neal (eurekaboy). They were really nice people and I had a lot of fun with you guys.
P.S. This was my first vac-in.
P.P.S Stephen, I'm glad you liked playing with my DAM Power Drive.
P.P.P.S.(last one) Tom, Thanks for helping me get my Hoover 700 running. Also, thanks again for the Hoover Convertible and 300.
Okay everyone can wake up now as my long winded story is finished.

Jim...

The building is still there awaiting a new owner. No one knows for sure what is in store for the 90+ year old building. Everyone in town wants it to be well cared for since it sits on the square. When they take off the lettering from the side of the building, I am only asking for an "H" that is all that I want. That is not asking for too much is it???

Charlie...

What will I be doing...same as always...out there finding vintage Hoover products for my collection!

Matt...

I am so happy that you were able to visit. I just wish that you had more time to hang around and run vacuums. Your parents are extremely nice folks and you are all welcome back anytime. You will never know how much fun it was for me getting all of those cleaners out and running them. I am glad that you were able to take something back to PA with you too.
