I'm just more concerned about some of the outrageous prices I see on ebay. I really am not looking to spend hundreds of dollars |

Compleatly rebuilt is 200 and not restored is free. But not restored means, holes in the bag, no cord, needs a new brush, dirty, most likely bad motor and bad fan. |

Im just looking for one with a good cloth bag, cord, and motor. if it needs a brush or belt that's not really a big deal, but holes in the bag or a burned out motor would be a deal breaker |

Where do you find these? define dirty on the $65 one, is the bag/cord damaged or does it just need a good polish? |

I wonder if you could change the toe adjustment to a rite hite screw? I see the hole for the rite height screw is there, but i dont know if everything else will work |

the 9100 looks like that except the bag says preffered instead of classic, the motor is 7 amps, and it has the rite hite screw adjustment instead of the au-toe-matic adjustment |

a 10.5 amp! holy cow, does it sound like a jet? The 9100 has a 7 amp motor, which is quieter, more reliable, and cleans just as good |

Good Day,
Would any of you folks happen to know if these motors are interchangeable? Perhaps a list of specs for the various motors? Could a 6 or 7 amp fit in a 10 amp housing? Just wondering what makes the higher amp units so much louder? Is it higher RPMs? I don't know what else it could be, if they all use the same fans. Also, kind of wondering if the 10 amp units could be altered to slow them down, or adjust whatever causes the extra noise. Is there an internal vent fan that could be the culprit? Well, any help is appreciated. John |

John,
The answer is no... The 7 amp and smaller motors (for the pre-1995 units) are of the "non drop in" type whereupon the drop-in types mentioned are 7.5 amps or larger. Yes, the RPM ranges vary... most high on the 10 amp units. The impeller fans are the same, however, for older units the shaft diameter holes are different. ~Ben |

That's great info Ben, thanks!
I've been looking into AC Motor Speed Controllers. It would be sweet to have a variable speed trigger on the 10 amp machine. I was looking at part numbers for Milwaukee 15 amp reciprocating saws. Full price would be $12.00 for the switch, and $30.00 for the controller. Then, a little fabricating and wiring... quite an endeavor, eh? I'll show you the prototype when it's done. Don't hold your breath... |
