This working Kirby is available for free. First what model is this?
I would like to know what has to be done to get filter bags & fill a tube on this as i have allergies. And is there any other things that get get some extra performance like a different brush roll (which it will no doubt need any way), fan, etc.
Kirby fans let me know what you think & i'll try & save this from a dumpster death.

I'm pretty sure that a Heritage or Legend mini emtor and bag will work on any kirby made before 1990. The Kirby looks like a Dual Sanitronic 50.

Looks like a 510,this machine needs a lot of work to fix it up,I would pass on that one.

Absolutely worth saving that machine, good early 500s are hard to come by. The Heritage style em-tor will not fit on pre 1956 (pre 516) models.

Take it!

This Kirby is not that bad and they are very simple machines. You could have this is reasonable working condition, likely, in just a few hours. This one is old. Pre-Dual Sanitronic. I would say its from the 50's, probably no later than a 515, the black handle is important. The great thing is that parts are easy to find. Believe it or not, it still takes the same belt as every kirby ever made, including the current model, the Sentria 2. Now here's the bad. This Kirby does not use a bag at all. That little box at the bottom of the bag is called your Emptor and you just flip the little latch and the lid opens for you to dump the dirt out. Because of your allergies, this might not be the best choice for you, but I really hate to see a nice old Kirby like that go to waste. At least pick it up and take it to your local vac shop. Chances are they know a collector and they'll be able to do something with it. For your allergies, you need either a Miele or a Rainbow.

For your allergies, I recommend Kirby/Rainbow/Filter Queen/Aerus Electrolux/TriStar/Thermax/Riccar/Simplicity.
