Thanks to everyone for all the responses and insight into helping me make my final decision. I plan to stick around a while and continue in the conversations and provide feedback from everything I learned from indepth hands on with Sebo D4, K3, Simplicity, Kenmore and yes even Dyson.

It looks like you landed yourself a fantastic canister with the Miele S8 canister partnered with SEB236 power nozzle. I wish you the best of luck with that machine.

Wishing you a formal welcome to the site with many more postings to come from you and a continued experience from your vacuum learning and feedback from different machines. The D4 model above has left a bad taste in my mouth but the many of the others you listed are quite powerful machines. I'm sure you will get much appreciation with your Miele along with gaining interest in Riccar, Simplicity, Royal, Aerus, Hoover and others!

Best of luck!

putting them to use this weekend. Full workout!!! We shall see how they do. This is my first go at having a canister vs an upright.

I like the idea of pairing a Miele stick vac with the canister - you can probably make double use of the attachments on both machines! It's nice to have a Miele electric broom at hand for quick cleanups before your "unexpected guests" arrive! :-) Would be nice if retailers would bundle these two products together at a discount.....

What kind of hose is that lying on the floor? Is it a non-electric hose? Is it a generic product made for use with Miele canisters? Or is it a genuine Miele hose?

And the most important question - how long is it before you stretch it? (No comments from the "peanut gallery" on this one, guys! :-D )

@eurikaprince, the hose on the ground is a generic "custom built" hose designed to attach directly to the vacuum (not an extension to the default hose). Unstreched it is 6ft and stretched fully it is 24 feet. it is a full hose with wand connection/suction control. Perfect for leaving the canister on our first floor and doing the wood stairs case all the way to the top. The Quickstep will live on our 2nd floor and we also got a generic hose setup for that as well (not here yet). It too is a 6ft to 24 ft extension. We wanted to do a bunch of above the floor cleaning on both floors of our house so the additional stretch of the hose is going to be a huge plus.

The hoses are non-electric suction only and are great so far.

Thanks for that Curtis - that hose is a great idea. Too bad Miele does not realize how many people would by a genuine longer hose as an option for their canisters....:-(

Enjoy you new toys! :-)
