Hey guys!

Can any other Kirby gurus tell me what the original bag was for this model 519? The one that is on there appears to be the original and is badly faded. However, I can see this blueish pattern with white lines. Usually these bags faded because as I understand it, dyes were not colorfast. One of my parts suppliers told me that this bag was "red" but I don't recall a "red" bag other than a replacement "pinkish" bag with the black ovals with "Kirby" written inside. All said and done and knowing Kirby's history, it's very conceivable that Kirby used more that one bag pattern during the production of this machine.

Check it out!

Hey Lou, check out Charles-Richard's website for Kirby reference, www.137.com/kirby..., it's a great source. The whole section on his site "Things that go vrooom in the night" is awesome!

Sounds like you have the original bag. Yes there are some odd bag's, and other parts that pop up from time to time Kiby has a habbit of changing things in the middle of producton even to this day, its almost a game for us to see who notices the subtle changes in the current moddel. My 514 has a bag I have never seen I cant find a picture of it anywhere and it is not a replacement. Under the hanger flap it is grey but because of color fade it is mostly a brown-ish color with yellow trim and a yellow old style kirby "K" all of my diagrams books manuals etc... have the 514 with a different bag so I cant find if it is an original replacement or if it is possibly off of a "r" model (I dont have much info on the r series Kirby dosent like to admit they ever had a retail version)

Thanks James for the info, too!

Yes, my bag then is the same, however, it has faded to a washed-out paper bag kinda look. There is still some evidence of that (what I call) blue-gray color in some of the folds. I will probably leave it on the way it is, though I do have a brand new replacement. Do you have a spare red screw for the Sani-Emptor by chance?

The bag on my 560 has faded to much lighter grey then the one on the 519 :(
I would keep the original bag on, unless the replacement is the same original colour and patern etc.

I'm afraid I don't have any spare red screws for the emtor.
I'm in need of a few myself

Thanks James......If I find some I will let you know, too!
The bag is in need of some minor sewing particularly on the top cuff itself. I am a pretty good sewer and can mend it fairly easily. Perhaps I can take pictures of it and post them here.
