So about two weeks ago, I found out that the Hoover Elite's were being discontinued. I was pretty sad about it because the Elite's have always been a big part of my life especially my childhood. I never owned an Elite before but my grandma did, one that was called Hoover Sprint, it was red, looked exactly like the Hoover Encore Supreme. My parents don't let me buy anything online because I'm only 14 so once I found out about them being discontinued I called up my local vacuum store, they had to order it because they don't have them in stock at their store so I had to wait 6 days for it to get to the store. Once those days passed, I went to go pick it up, paid them $150 for it, then i took it home. I'm really happy with it and I just love this vacuum so much!! I recommend to the people who are interested in it to buy it ASAP before the companies start running out of them. Here is a link to a YouTube video of it :D

Yes

I still cant believe that they are discontinuing the Elite! They were such a success in time. I had 2 of them. But that was years ago and I no longer have them. If there were a way to bring them back into production, I would do that. Good luck with your new machine. Enjoy it!!

Hoover

This machine will last a lifetime, as most hoovers do unlike a Bissell normally would crap out in a few months.

What proof do you have of this? In my experience, bissells have lasted just as long as hoovers, and clean well, too!

I'm sure it was a hasty generalization and he didn't mean it. We all get the point he was trying to make though. A $49 Bissell Powerforce bagless will most likely be outlasted by the American made Hoover Elite, when they are both properly maintained and babied. I was considering contradicting his statement before you, but I didn't see the importance. Bissell makes a great vacuum, but the high maintenance filter system is overlooked by the average user, causing the motor to overload and blow prematurely. An elite is harder to kill in that there is one bag to replace, which is much easier to maintain. While I have no scientific evidence to back my statements, common sense should dictate that most likely a cheaply made Bissell won't make it past the more expensive, better quality Elite. In the end, who cares :) .

***Correction before I get jumped on... $43.84 Bissell Powerforce Helix at WalMart ;)

It is a sad thing to know as a fact that the Elite is being discontinued,As it was a magor triumph for Hoover.

If funds permit,I hope to buy 2 of the last of the Elites,One for actaul use,The other to keep in box,As a testament to the model that once was.

I wish I could buy two. I have enough money for 10+, but it will be used for my first car in the coming months, which admittedly is more important. I am sorry if I came off a bit strong to anyone in my last 2 posts. I just wanted to nip a possible dispute before it got any worse.

uk version

we had the hoover turbolite here in the uk which was an american built elite also a hard box commercial version i have the commercial but dont have the turbolite anymore. my neighbour has the turbolite and its been her daily driver for years she would not part with it for anything they are light simple easy to use vacuums and here in the uk we should of had a few more different models
i may have to buy one of those commercial elites and get it shipped over

I have to agree that any Hoover will last longer than a cheaply made Bissell. Oh and also you're welcome for the link! Hope you enjoyed my video. It's unfortunate that most of the Elite's from the 90's that are still working now are nearing the end of their lifespan :( Hoover Elites will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart.

Good luck uksausage

You can probably find one on ebay easily since I always see Elite parts on ebay brand new.

elite discontinuation

You know I've heard a lot of talk about the elite being discontinued, but my vac store guy seems more than positive it isn't going anywhere. He did reveal to me though that TTI is selling the plastic commercial vac designs to other companies (particularly Royal), but they are not getting rid of them. Makes sense because I've seen a "commercial" orange bagged tempo with Royal name on it. But there will still be the ones under the Hoover name, he says. He also said he couldn't believe Hoover would drop the Elite any time soon due to its simple use, design and ease of service.

TTI bought Hoover and Royal in 2006. Hoover and Royal are owned by TTI.
The last Hoover Elites rolled of the factory line in December 2012. The factory that made the Hoover Elites closed in December 2012.

Hoover Elite C1404

I just bought one of these off of Amazon .com And it is terrific....I am glad I got one for my collection before they were all gone....Dan

Congratulations thermokid!!

It's a great thing that you bought one!! Because eventually all the companies selling them will run out and then after that there is basically no chance of getting an Elite NIB. Hope you enjoy it since it will probably last you forever as long as you take good care of it. I know I am!! :)

The closest thing I have to one is my Hoover soft&light supreme. it has a 7 amp motor and the box top bag. Close enough right? lol

Sorry for tacking onto an older thread, but I'm thinking about buying an Elite before companies run out of them, should I keep it in its box? I don't think I'd use it very often, and I think I'd like to buy one and keep it in its box, like someone else said on this thread.

Does anyone know if they have stopped production of the Hoover C1414-900? It's the hard bag cover model.

Post# 223236 , Reply# 26   3/12/2013 at 00:38 (4,034 days old) by sanitaireboy99 ()

Yes I completely recommend that you buy one before they run out. A thing that you could do is buy one to keep in the box and another to use. But if you don't want to spend money on 2 of the same vacuums then you could just buy one and try to keep it in its best condition as possible. And I believe they did also discontinue the C1414.

It's so sad the Elite name is no longer in existant.
