i got a nice compact vacuum today. the model is c 80-2. it works great but needs a new belt. my question about this vacuum is: is this a rare vacuum? is there any way to replace the front wheals? thanks

The old Compacts are a dime a dozen. And been so heavy they last forever, having said that they will never be a highly collectible Vacuum. On the other hand the kirby's seem to get abused more because of the Configuration and get tossed into the bin.
THe wheels I think can be replaced....

Evan,

The earliest ones circa 1974 were similar to the Eureka Roto-Matic Power Team nozzles. Then, for 1982 (when Compact was renamed Tri-Star) Eureka again manufactured a power nozzle but with more involvement from Interstate (Tri-Star's parent company).

The wheel at the back are held in by a pin and coter pin .
Put a new one and your good , your model is a C80 Compact before change to Tristar and have the CXL 2 Speed red.

The c3 or c4 with the roto magic power nozzle circa 1960s. The power nozzle on it I want to say ABC nozzle and I don't know what ABC means I just know that is the rare power head.
The vacuum is awesome. Power nozzle is made by eureka. The system is amazing. It cleans all surfaces and bit keeps its cfm close to 100 cfm at hose. I may be off but the vacuum does hard wood, dusting, upholstery, carpet etc. It does all the surface well and it's all in one vacuum. I initially liked the blower port. It has more pressure than say the Kirby as it has a smaller hose. It just does it all. It's tied with my Kirby d80 as my favorite vacuum.
