It was the fall "large item" trash pickup at a neighboring town. I know the crew that works for the village and they save me all the vacuums that they pick up that are out for junk. This fall I got 20 machines. Mostly all plastic, Dirt Devil things, but there were a few surprises. The best being a model 84 Constellation with the original floor tool and a new Hoover Roundabout upright that is essentially a Fold Away. There also was a beat up Filter Queen. The Roundabout was caked full of dirt and the belt is shot, but the dusting brush and the furniture brush are still taped to the machine from the factory. I guess this is a throw away society. The Roundabout runs great and I'm going to fix it up to use. Not bad for a free vacuum.

Oh...My Bad................

Its a Runabout not a "Roundabout". Sometimes I totally miss the boat on things........

I had one of those yellow runabout's in CA and it actually was a pretty decent little vacuum

Wow Joe! Great Haul!!! I like the Connie best...now you have a good rug nozzle. I really like Hoover's rug nozzle for the 84 and 85. I never really liked the 86 and beyond rug and floor nozzle as it never seemed to hit the floor right for me.

I just love how they filled up the Hoover bagless Runabout. The box says just add dirt and that they did!

Great Finds!

Hi Joe,
Looks like you scored big again! My wife would kill me if I brought home that many vacs all at once! I agree with Tom, I like the Connie best!

i like *roundabout* better! lets not forget, as plasticky as it is, the Elite is a better cleaner than Or**k, and lightwieght too! the 7amp and less models were esp nice. i almost want one!

Joe, cool finds. I'd love to find a Connie with a wheeled rug nozzle as well. I believe that gray Elite you picked up with the wide headlight is early-90's vintage...hang on to those!

Elites

Yes, I am hanging on to that Elite. I have a couple of other early ones that don't have the hose port for the tools. I also have the bottom converter and hose for the early Elites. Its scarey to realize that these Elites are pushing 20 years of age. It seems like they just came out. I'm now saving every Elite or version of Elite that I can. THe only exception is the 12 amp models. They are just too loud for me. That would include the Caddy Vac and early bagless models too. I do have an early version of the fan first bagless Hoover made that used the 7 amp Elite motor. That one runs quiet. The 12 amp ones, forget it.

Back to the Elites, you are right in saying they give the Or**k a run for the money. Never in a million years would I have ever thought of saving Elites. Now I'm past the 2 dozen mark with the amount of Elites I have. Not to mention motors and other parts from stripped machines.

Joe
