Hey Guys, So I have been looking on ebay and local area for a Hoover or Royal upright vac, I know your probably in gasp but I want to give em a try. I am looking for either an Elite, or Convertible w/head light. Anyone have any for sale or have any better ideas for me to look?

As Always,
Tristan

You might want to check craigslist and see if anyone is selling them that way. I have a hoover convertible i brought from a guy and it works great. you might find some royals on there too.

Thanks, Ryan

Thanks Ryan, I hound CL daily and no luck, people dont really seem to sell used vacs here mostly just throw them away. :( CL never has anything.

thrift-stores are your friend.

Get there early before the pickers who sell on ebay...put an Ad in craigslist, 'wanted old vacs'.
Most end up in the trash, go out early on trash day. In a year or so you'll have a different problem, too many. These vacs are repaired, cleaned & in use, i got 4 times as many waiting to be sorted out.

You don't like that red one? What colors or hood designs did you have in interest.

So glad you're looking into a nice HOOVER.  Try ebay. You're the $5.00 thrift "King".  I'm sure you'll find a nice vacuum,   then, another.  Soon, HOOVERS will abound.  I expect I'll see a nice assortment when I get to visit.  hmmmm

Tristan would you want to trade something or buy this one? It's a Hoover Decade 80, it was essentially rebuilt by John Gregory with brand new top motor bearing, brand new base, brand new brush roll, brand new belt, brand new fan, new bulbs, It's in great shape, I like it but could let it go and make space for something different. Or perhaps you'd like my other Convertible.

bgky.craigslist.org/hsh/351520144... Here's a TOL Hoover PowerDrive, it's an upscale to my blue one which I love as this one has a Dirt Finder.

knoxville.craigslist.org/bar/3509... Here's a Hoover canister. No picture, they say its older and works well. You should email and see if they have pictures!! It has to be awesome its a Hoover power nozzle vac.

That red hooded one up above with headlight is gorgeous, too bad, it looks like the listing is done. I would take that one!! Deep shades of red, green and blue hit me a certain way. Hence my liking for the dark green Eureka 1784B and Deep Wine Burgundy of Hoover PowerMax above.

That's listed wrong, that is a Decade 80, not a Convertible. If you search Decade 80 in the archives, somewhere there is a Hoover advertisement with about 4 Decade 80 models, this one I believe is on there. I do find it amazing, years ago I thought the only Decade 80 was the mint green one. Now they're just popping up everywhere with this style above, the tan one I have a dirt cup model. Amazing!! It's very interesting that on some models there is no sticker on the base and it is attached to the back of the headlight window. Other models such as the mint green it is on the base.

Rob you are the Hoover man, well the other one besides my friend John. Do you have one you would sell? Or know of any others? I have a hard time finding them on ebay when I search hoover upright, hoover convertible not much comes up. This isnt life or death would like to find one though.

Thanks Friend,
Tristan

Actually that blue Hoover Tristan likes is actually badged on the machine Hoover Deluxe Convertible. That would have been the first one introduced in that hood style prior to Hoover changing its name to Decade 80

Tristan which one would you like. The Decade 80 would be a little more expensive with all the new parts. The other is in great shape though. There would be shipping involved too, unless you want to wait for a MiniMeet or something else. Private message me further interest. I like both but could part, I am going through some life evaluations and first priority is new job. That may very well lead to moving so selling a vacuum helps that process, sadly.

Yes I can make out the words Deluxe Convertible in the head light lens. I just learned something new about the early stages from Convertibles to Decades. Very neat!!
