Hello There!

I have a small hand vac I purchased at Home Depot a few years ago. It is basically a Shark knock-off, that I would use around the house for quick pickups, sucking up bugs, crumbs etc.

A couple of months ago I decided to use it to vacuum my car, and it just wasn't up to the task, endurance wise, I believe it over heated and shut down. Did I burn up the motor? It hasn't worked since, but I didn't want to throw it away, if I could perhaps open it up and maybe fix it.

I mean it cost me less than 20 dollars, so I guess it is no big deal if I have to throw it away. but if you experts think there is something I might try to revive it, then I'll give it a go.

Thanks,
Debbie

I would not bother with it but if you think it would be interesting to see what is inside then go ahead. I find it hard to imagine fixing one as they were never built to be repaired but taking it apart could be a learning experience for you.

If you realy want to know what I think happened, it is most likely the heat sensor. They put too much power in those machines and they heat up fast so they put a sensor in. The sensor usualy resets after 15 minutes of cooling but if it does not work when it is cool then there is not much you can do about it.

Hi Lux,

I think you are right. I am going to open it up anyhow just to see what is inside. But probably a lost cause. This vacuum always got real hot if it was used more than a few minutes and it was really loud too, like it was running at a high RPM or something.
