A friend of mine is needing a new vacuum and wants to spend under $200. She only wants an UPRIGHT and has carpets.

Does anyone have any ideas in this price range? Thanks in advance.

For Under $200 with great cleaning ability, It's Hoover

Or you could go to local vacuum shop and see if they have any refurbished units that are in great condition and you might price their new Hoovers as well!

Hoover Windtunnel T bagged or Hoover Windtunnel Max bagged upright!! Both have tremendous suction, toe operated on/off switch for agitator. No Mess, No Fuss bag drop off bag door. Good consumer reviews. Excellent suction, sturdy long hoses. I've tried both, they're good. The ones that did not like the Windtunnel T bagged on Hoover's website are truly idiots as can be figured out by reading their posts!!

Hoover Website offers free shipping. YOu might also review amazon.com, abcvacuumwarehouse.com, govacuum.com, vcdiscounter.com and many others to see what they carry.

A bagged Hoover upright or a bagged Eureka upright will offer great cleaning and serve your friend well for 5-10 years.

I own a Eureka F&G model 1934b Bagged upright and I am extremely impressed with it's cleaning power and carpet grooming. It's not extremly loud and picks up great! That combined with the fact it still has the classic Eureka look sold it for me. I found mine on Amazon.com for $99 plus shipping. It came ready to go out of the box with a new bag installed and a spare belt.

This comercial Panasonic checks in below $200 delivered at walmart.com. Proven, vast parts abailability & 'metal where you want it' make it a long term winner over other plasti-vac contenders imo.

Must we endure another tediously long thread of every link requiring a new post? Seriously - can't you just compile a list..? I'm not trying to sound 'smart' - but I'm sure we're all up to speed with 'google' - and are able to use the 'compare' tool most websites offer.

I'm pleased that so many of us are wanting to help with advice and what-not, and it's great that we have so much expertise at our fingertips - but please, lets not be making excessive unnecessary posts. It really does detract from the awesome info contained in the rest of the thread.

I have no doubt that Fred will tell me off if I'm being out of line.

Streakers,
Everybody has their own way of helping people. That what makes the world unique. The world would be a boring place if everybody were the same. I wish the URL link section allowed us to share more than one link at a time. I wish the picture section allowed us to share more than one picture at a time. Let's bury the hatchet and call a truce.
Sincerely,
KirbyUltimateG

Also, I will put all of my links in the Message section just like other members. This will save bandwidth.

No need to call a truce...

And no hatchets to bury, I'm not about to hijack this thread under the excuse of being 'unique'... I just ask that you consider your method of 'helping'... I also can appreciate that you're doing your bit to help - and I respect that, however post after post after post of a single link is tiring.

Thanks for considering alternative posting styles - I do appreciate it.
