Miele UK are now allowing future buyers to choose colours of either the S6 or S8 at the base starter price of £189-99, which is hardly cheap. You can then configure the vacuum, to custom build to your requirement.

I'm not sure if I am into this kind of marketing - especially when department stores such as John Lewis are currently selling the base S8 at £169-99. It seems a bit of a rip off even if you get to choose your own colour!

Not worth it! I'm happy with my s4212 plus which I got for free, and I just picked up the wand and floor head for free too. Small vacuum but very powerful !

Sorry to hi-jack the thread but dysondestijl, can I just ask where did you get the little red house that the Henry in the background is sat on?

Cheers
Dave

Got it off eBay Rutger, from a cleaning company that were selling all the stock in one if there shops that was closing. Also it's the numatic James that's sitting on the house, not a yellow Henry :)

Cool thanks for that, i'll keep an eye out for one myself.

Cheers

The red house is an actual seller's platform for the Henry models to rest on in a shop setting. Thus you can usually buy them direct from Numatic. They're just a hollow plastic bases though, not a house with true opening doors or windows.

I've just had a play and agree, its overpriced. Ticking every box adds up to over £450. alot ofnthe extras are just attachments too. My freaking car cost £400, our S5210 cost nil!

@sebo_fan,

Wow, it looks like there is an option for a larger motor... also when I go to the products page it also shows a 2200W motor. It seems to be available on both the S6 and S8... we don't seem to have that option in the US. Interesting I also didn't see the option for a PN as part of the selection for the customized build out.

In the US, we only get 1200W motors.

So is it safe to assume that the 2200W motor will be much louder and a heck more powerful than the units in the US?

No, no.. The motors are different in terms of what it LOOKS like powerful motors on paper, but the U.S has a different voltage system to the UK. The equivalents would be the same in the U.S, ie your 1200 watt is the same as our 2200 watts or 2000 watts where Miele is concerned. It isn't exactly truthful anyway - when I look at the rating plate of my S4210 which claims to have 2000 watts, the maximum output is 1900 watts, the lowest output is 1500 watts. It is very confusing, more so when thinking machines are different on power on each side of the continent.

If there is one thing that is annoying then rightly, its the lack of power nozzle floor heads that Miele UK don't make available. The UK aren't that keen in terms of power nozzle fitted cylinders - we prefer our uprights to do that job - where cylinder/canister vacs are naturally lighter for "above the floor cleaning."
