Yes, the Elite is done. They may be bringing out something similar but that particular machine with hood is finished.

Hoover has actually had problems making that machine over the past few years I've heard because TTI recieved nothing from Maytag, that's why TTI so many new machines on the market because they got nothing from Maytag at the settlement. They had to send that hood out a few companies and get someone to copy cat and contract it out. So its actually become in some ways an extra financial burden because of subcontracting for that hood. But this all what I've heard. I don't work for Hoover and don't officially know what is up their sleeve. I've heard there is a lot in play though.

As I've said before, many people on here can't wait and are super excited about the 2014 Anniversary edition Kirby to roll out. Hopefully by then we will see more of what Hoover has been working on to replace the Elite with and improve many other machines. We just have to sit, wait and watch!!

TTI just recently updated the Guardsman line, and added a model to the Royal Commercial line up. Plus, Hoover still has to compete with Sanitaire and other commercial companies. I doubt the Guardsman will be leaving us anytime soon.

I hope the Elite style hood comes back.

Bring back domestic Convertibles, Constellation, Celebrity & Floor-A-Matic too.

I think everyone wanting the Elite should email Hoover or contact their Facebook. That would do the most justice. I myself don't work for Hoover and never did. Just posting here what I've heard!!

Be sure to give reasoning in your email. For this example I'll use Hoover Celebrity!
Simply stating "Bring back the Celebrity" won't do anything. They need to know what it was about the Celebrity that we liked so much. Plus most of the people there probably don't know what the Celebrity model really was. You can give them a model number and maybe that would provide reference like the S3141 was the Celebrity IV Elite with headlight equipped power head.

I sure hate to hear that Hoover discontinued the Elites! They had a very long run from 1988-2012! RIP Hoover Elites!

The Hoover factory that the Elites were made in is closing on 12-31-2012. The last Elites rolled off of the line earlier this month.

I second Floor-A-Matic's post!

super-sweeper's profile picture
We need the domestic convertible, connie, celeberty and the floor-a-matic!

I'll give some reasons...

CONVERTIBLE-VERY excellent at grit and soil removal,Durable,Reliable,Ran all the way from late 1950s to 1993!

CONSTELLATION-The only cleaner of it's kind!"The cleaner that walks on air"!Who wouldn't want a floating magic vacuum cleaner?All it needs now is a Power-head (With elite-style brush-roller) And it's a hit!

CELEBRITY-Would work very well in the commercial market,Along with domestic!Powerful too!

FLOOR-A-MATIC-Why not update the FloorMates? They sell well,But what would sell better is a Hoover with SCRUB-BRUSHES (No,Not those little sonic-toothbrush like things) Actual buffing pads! Combined with a powerful, efficient water extracting system along with maybe even a built-in water heater for extreme cleaning!

Why and what do you think Hoover should bring back?
Please answer down below!

Happy Hoovering!
-Alex.

A good suggestion would be to

gottahaveahoove's profile picture

contact TTI, and, "tell them" all of this.  Dan Gregory LOVES consumer input!

I've seen some photos of some new things in the lineup. I've been asked not to talk about it much.  But,  I hope y'all like RED.

Hoover needs to bring back a lot of things for residential use! LOL
Convertible/Decade/Elite/Legacy/Concept/Innovation uprights.
Celebrity/Spirit/Dimension/Spectrum/PowerMax/PortaPower canisters.
Floor A Matic/FloorMax carpet shampooers/floor polishers.

Another Hoover to bring back--The Junior !!!Leaves the Oreck in the dust.And---make the "new" Juniors,Convertibles,Guardsman, out of METAL,not plastic-and METAL fans-like that in the Metal Royals and older Hoovers.

It never hurts to email and feedback!! Companies like listening to what their customers say. Sometimes they don't bring all of something they will reintroduce some features as was typical of those former products that people like so much, due to feedback!!

I strongly still encourage anyone with an issue to contact them via Facebook, email or both!!

Not to be a jerk about it, but if you don't email them, then you can't really complain about it. Its like voting for the President. If you decide not to vote, you can't complain about whoever the President is, since , assuming you didn't like his platform, you didn't do your part, and vote against him. If you want Hoover to bring back a certain model, and you don't tell them, then they have no reason to do it. If you do email them, and they don't listen, well at least you tried.

I agree, go for it, it's only $10. My grandmom had a hard bag Hoover Elite Supreme for 17 years. At that point she moved in with my parents and gave the vacuum with the sale of the house to the new owners. I checked it over and put in new bag and new belt prior to sale, it still runs quite well!!

Not to start a war, BUT,

I stood in the room and SAW the LAST one built!.  HOOVER still has a lot of them,  you can still buy them,  but,  production of them has ended. Trust me:  sadly,  very sadly,  I was THERE.  This stack is the end of the line!! I saw them carry the spcial box into the office. You DON'T see me smiling,  do you?  There's a reason for that.

Companies, sadly, don't work that way. They listen to what the average person wants (bagless, brush shut off, cord winder, etc.), look at their competition (swivels), and have engineers build something that looks fresh and modern so that people at wal-mart will put it into their cart. Hoover sells millions of vacuums each year, and they are always trying to give the consumer what they want tomorrow, not yesterday. It's just how it works. Trust me, I talk and talk to Tacony management about what they 'should' be making, and while it doesn't fall on deaf ears, they make decisions about what makes the company the most money. Bringing 'back' retired models (like the heavy and bulky Celebrity) won't make Hoover the kind of money they need to survive as a manufacturer. You have to look at it from a business standpoint instead of a collector's standpoint.

Thing is though, retro sells. Whether its a car, or a coffee machine. There's no excuse for a brand NOT to follow the lead. Whilst it may not make business sense for models to fly off the shelf, it only takes ONE brand to do a retro 'heavy' for others to follow suit.

Though I can't speak for the U.S buyers, owners and market trends, Kitchenaid's retro mixers are a big hit in the U.S - they're heavy after all, as is our more modern British Kenwood Chef that is still an industry favourite - why should it therefore be different for vacuum cleaners? After all, Aerus is hardly modern when you look at their canisters vacuums.

Well, I have to agree with Tom. If Hoover gave the collectors what they wanted(A new version of the Celebrity or Convertible for example), they couldn't really sell it say next to a very modern looking Eureka,Dyson,Bissell, etc. The fact is that TTI will make a vacuum that they can sell that appeals to buyers and I think that the new Hoovers are also great. It may not last as long as say my Model 825 of my Model 61, but I really like them. My sister got a Windtunnel Air and she really likes it. She did say she would take her Royal 880 over it any day, but at the moment she needed a vacuum because her ex stole the Royal from her. I also like it, the last time I was at her house I tried it out and for her needs it works great, If I liked having a bagless vacuum(I don't really care for bagless), I'd Probably get one too.
