Hello, My name is Rich and I discovered this forum the other day. While I don't have a large collection of vacuums like many others may have, I still have a great interest in vacuums since I was a kid. So I just wanted to introduce myself and post a question.
My sister has a Ceramic tile floor which I am regrouting so to speak. I'm not replacing the grout I am using a product called Grout Sheild, it goes over the existing grout after it has been cleaned and can also change the color of the grout (many colors avaiable). Like regular grout it does leave a haze on the tile and the manufacturer recomend using a floor buffer to remove the haze and to polish the floor with windex and polishing pads. My siser has an Electrolux B8 polisher but has thrown away the floor brushes. I used to use this many years ago to scrub my floors and it worked great.
I do have a Filter Queen Pow-r Polisher for my Filter Queen Vacuum and I am going to attempt to use it. It has the lambswool pad that goes over the regular brush that attaches with three snaps. I am going to try just using the brush first with a little vinegar mixed with water and after that dries i'll use the lambswool pad with the windex (supposed to give the ceramic tile a nice shine). I only have one pad and I have to do 550 Square feet. I don't know how long the pad will hold up as it is the orgiinal and has never been used. Any suggestions?

Can't help with your question??

I do house cleaning but never got into polishing a floor. My guess is they want you to use the windex because of the Ammonia. Ammonia can be used heavily with other compounds to strip wax off a floor so their thinking it would strip the compound.

I hope you get responses from someone on here who might know about that subject. Otherwise you may want to try contacting a cleaning supplier or Ace/ Truevalue Hardware. They may have a suggestion along with rental equipment available for a full powered Burnisher that would have different pads available for attaching on.

My hope is that the Grout Shield is an overall grout sealer. Sealed grout wiil definitely help keep it looking cleaning longer without locking dirt in and discoloring from mop water and other spills.

Welcome to the forum!! I currently live in Central PA, and grew up in suburb of Philadelphia so definitely not too far from Jersey!! I miss going to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson!!

Thanks for your response.

Thanks for the Welcome and your responce. Grout Sheild is a colored matched grout sealer. It is applied after the grout sheild grout and floor cleaner is used to clean the existing grout and opening up the pores so that the grout sealer will fill in the pores of the grout and seal at the same time. After watching the DVD that came with the product, the guy removed the haze from the floor with an Oreck Buffer using a scotch brite type of pad (White buffing pad) spraying windex and going over the area with the buffer to remove the haze. Next he put a towel on the floor and put the buffing pad over it and then the buffer on top of the pad. This is to polish the floor. This is a more professional way of doing the floor but it comes frome the man who invented, uses, and sells the product.

As I said in my original post my sister does have an Electrolux B8 Carpet and floor beautifier. She never used the brushes for the floor, she used just to shampoo the carpets. This is from the days before the invention of the Hoover spin brush carpet cleaner. The Electrolux is no longer used and since we don't have the regular floor brushes, I decided to try my Filter Queen Pow-r Pollisher. I have never used it before and have had it for a few years so I decided to try it but I did not get the results I wanted. I quess it is not heavy enough.
The ceramic tile floor is 26 years old and nothing was done in the beginning to seal the grout. Over the years the grout discolored and my sister has order a different product to clean the grout. It took 5 days to clean the 550 square feet of floor and it did not come out that well. A sealer was ordered that should have arrived in a day or two but did not show up until two weeks after the order was place. This whole process cost close to $350.00 and was a waste of Money and my time. I found the grout sheild and we ordered a sample to try in a closet that has the tile and it worked great. So If you are ever looking for a grout sealer I could definately recomend this, I give it a 50 out of TEN.

Thanks again for the response and the welcome. Happy Vacuuming & Cleaning!
Rich
