I can't believe I saw an early electric hose on eBay!

Are these hoses rare? I know the listing already ended.

Yes, this hose IS rare. It was probablly made during the era of the Model 1205 (1969-1974), as its blue and white, in the colors of the 1205.
The only problem with a woven hose this old is that they were/are prone to being very leaky after awhile, even tho they may look like brand spanking new, and are pretty to loook at, they can leak suction like a seive. Even to the point of being totally worthless as far as actualy using it for vacuuming with.
These woven hoses were also very stiff, rigid and hard to manage and use.
Much better to have a newer vinal hose. Much more user friendly.

rare & super rare

The blue direct connect hose and telescopic wand was one of the new features of the first 1205(1968)and as usual the L shared same atts. The hose handle proved to be weak and the wand and Power Nozzle latches would wear and not lock(unlike the improved version seen later on Silv/DJ).It was changed back to the dependable curved metal end style with 2 piece wand and long sheath cord. These can still be found at times but almost never airtight. The G hose above is super rare with little known.I have never seen original literature for it.The archive info above is good(the 'floor' brushes are the white wall brush).

Pictures of hose

The one from an eBay listing (not mine)

Was there a version that had an ON/OFF switch for the PN?

The other one (not mine)

If anyone has one that they no longer want, I'd like to have one.

Several years ago, when I was a kid (around 1986) I once had this style hose; sadly it broke & got thrown out. :(

Elux hoses

The style hose on white Mo L above never had on/off switch(but many generic replacements did).I think at one time The Canadian tanks(great vacs)had a trigger switch but are rare this far south.

You are correct about our Canadian models having a Trigger Switch on the hose handle. This started with the Elux-O-Matic Model 89, & on the plastic body AP100, AP200, AP280, & E2000. The feature was discontinued when the 2100 came out & production moved to America.

interesting set up

I've never seen a model L with that hose before. I have a 1205 with that hose, but with a curved wand end and a blue suction relief ring. I use my 1205 with a blue PN-1 with the metal wands and wand sheath. I thought that hose color/design was introduced with the 1205. I have the white PN-1 that I received with a pristine "automatic"G. I dont use the white one much because of the plastic wand.

I like......

the idea of heat shrink tubing in 'crystal clear' finish to repair these old hoses as one member suggested. It beats the latex method, but won't address connection problems. I always just replace with a new LUX hose for function....but the originals are eye-openers...especially that beautiful, blue electric G hose....wow!

There's another rare hose; it's on the pic that says "1205 Middle"

Early model G hose

What was the problem with the very early electrified hoses that didn't sell well? I thought those were heavy-duty hoses made to last?

I forgot to mention I ordered a new hose that resembles the hose on reply #4; only the one I'm getting is the new plastic vinyl & not the woven one.

I wish those hoses had an ON/OFF switch for the Power Nozzle & a sliding suction relief valve instead of a "screw" type valve that can break off easily.

Here are some Electrolux hoses I have:

  • Blue/turquoise woven non-electrified for the L (1205-era)
  • Beige coiled vinyl for the L (for daily use, but it's too short)
  • Blue/grey electrified for the 1205
  • Bronze G (replaced with "pool vacuum" hose)

Not shown in pic are the blue/turquoise woven electrified hose with curved metal handle from my 1205 & a beige woven electrified hose (Diamond Jubilee era?) with blue "tracers"

The blue/turquoise non-electric woven hose is still airtight;Smile but I use the beige coiled vinyl hose, although both are too ridiculously short. At least while I'm waiting for the model G/L electric hose to arrive.

btw, does Perfect make electrified hoses with ON/OFF switch for the Models G & L?  I only found the ones for the 1205-Ultralux 1521 & plastic tanks like the 2100-Lux Classic (except the Epic 6500, Lux Legacy, Renaissance & canisters that use the larger plastic wands)

Sorry if anyone couldn't read the light color; but I'll try to re-post the light colored text.

My Lux hoses (from Left>Right)

  • Blue/turquoise non-electric woven (1205-era Model L)
  • Beige non-electric vinyl (daily driver when I use either the AE, G or L)
  • Blue/Grey electric vinyl with ON/OFF switch & sliding suction control valve
  • Tan model G hose, which the hose itself was replaced with pool vacuum hose but still has genuine Lux ends

All four hoses swivel a full 3600 & so do the other Lux hoses I have in my collection.

The blue/grey electrified hose took me a long time to find; but I believe there are some that might be on eBay.

I try to stay away from hoses that don't swivel (at least at the handle end) like the one for my TriStar CXL.

btw, are there any electrified hoses that swivel at the handle end AND have suction control for a TriStar CXL?
