So i've finally finished my Electrolux C2116 project, heres some before and after pics. I know these are quite common over the other side of the pond but in the UK they are very few and far between. They were sold as a commercial only model from 1979 to about 1985. My one is the rarer Widetrack model, the standard one was the C12. When I first got it, it was in an awful state, it had been left outside at some point so the hood had all corroded and flaked, the bag was faded and stuffed full of sand and it was general quite grubby but it did power up ok.

I gave the bag a good vacuum and wash then dyed it. I managed to find a donor machine with a nice hood which improved it massively. I then cleaned all the chrome work up and got most of the rust pitting off then polished it all up.

It's an incredibly powerful cleaner and theres not a lot that can beat it on carpets I don't think. Watch this space for a Youtube video on my channel.

Heres a before pic...

I have a C12

And like you say, it's a beast on carpet!! I can't part with it.

I have just ordered a outter bag for use with the f&g bags from the states.

It came today so I can't wait to try it out.

The shake out is a right mess to emtpy.

I love the sound of this thing on carpet. And the air it shifts is immense.

it is an incredible vacuum, really do love this one. I wish parts were a bit more easily available over here though. I need 2 new top cord hooks for my ones.

I don't mind the shakeout bag but I haven't had to empty it yet. When I first got it, it was bulging and stuffed full of sand and I used another vacuum to suck it all out before I put it in the washing machine. When the time comes again, i'll just use one of my big commercial vacs to suck the dirt out

My C12 needs loads of bits. Would love a chrome hood! And maybe a clear bumper.. and new cord hooks, and a new cable protecter.. And maybe some stiffer brush strips that are for the Vg3.

But it does the job! And really well!

For me, the F&G bag is the shit. I have just tried it out and I'm happy. The problem for me with the shakeouts is pet hair. Im cleaning up after the dogs and a cat and it sticks the cloth like a son of a.. I have to take it outside and put my arm in it to turn it inside out and then shake like buggery.

I did like how it inflated though!

I would like to be able to see how much it was picking up ti be honest, I'm a bit if a bagless fan.
