Has anyone used a Hoover Commercial Elite model C1404?
After getting mixed reviews regarding the lightweight Platinum Windtunnel, I went to the web sight and was checking out the commercial line. I use an old Spirit/Elite at a house I clean and I love it's liteweight It does not have onboard tools which is fine as I have a commercial porta power. I can't seem to figure out what is wrong with my Kenmore upright and I don't want to stick a pile of $ into it, as it so heavy, especially if I drag it to jobs.

How does it clean carpets and bare floors? It shows tools in the pix, but does not say if they are included. they are not onboard which is fine, less weight.

They are very good.

There are no tools,  but,  there is a port for them, if you want to use tools.

I saw the LAST one made last week.  They'll be enough 'parts' for about 3 years.

Here I am in the factory where they were built.  The plant is to close Dec 31.  a very sad day for HOOVER.

Is that it for the hoover commercial line? Are any more hoovers going to be made in america, or is every thing going to china and mexico, like everything else? Very sad indeed, hoover should be ashamed for doing this.

Here are some ELITES that I once had; & miss them. :(

The GOOD news is, I found ANOTHER Elite in red; it just needs a spa treatment. :)

From what I've heard the Elite line of Hoovers is completely done. The factory for that is in North Canton, Ohio, but those factories although historical and of great meaning to "Hoover" as we know it, are in very bad condition.

Hoover is producing parts for machines in China, and Mexico but also Glenwillow, Ohio. I've also heard that there are plans for is already a factory in Texas working on machines. Hoover is certainly not done producing machines in the U.S., they will bringing more back but in a safer, better condition factory from the run down ones in North Canton which Maytag during its' ownership of Hoover invested little to nothing in for upkeep.

It's amazing the stories and news out there. Many of us have felt that TTI is bringing Hoover down the drain. But if you talk with people like John Gregory who has owned his own Authorized Warranty Dealer service shop for Hoover products, it is Maytag that dramatically forced cuts in all others of Hoover production and really sent them down the drain. TTI received nothing from Maytag in regards to products, history or anything!!

Hoover Elite

Other then a longer heavier cord, is there any other differences in a commercial one as compared to the household ones?

Chan55, there's a few primarily cosmetic differences.

durango159's profile picture
Colors, lack of headlights. On many of the commercial ones, the attachment suction door is a belt storage area and does not actually give you a port to attach hose. Some have different agitator brush. Also top cord hook is much bigger as a way to hook onto maid cart. Not sure if it swivels or not for easy cord removal. Otherwise motor and overall construction is the same.

So, Are the Hoover Elites moving to China or Mexico or staying in the USA or altogether discontinued? Thanks.

Gee, if Hoover elects to hold onto U.S. production as much as it can, what with news of a new mfg. plant in TX, then, I am hoping that TTI's other division, Royal, will do the same thing in the future.

From what I've heard the Hoover Elite is being discontinued altogether. However even better from the Elites they are trying to preserve and do more things with the Hoover Convertible/ Decade styles as seen on the Guardsman lines. I believe the Guardsman name may disappear as it has been tainted by so many things but works are in play for that style machine to have a few upgrades while still having great durability.

Everything needs time, so nothing will happen overtime. But just as many are awaiting the Anniversary Edition Kirby in 2014 and hoping and guessing as to what will appear--, perhaps by that time Hoover may have some interesting things to show as well!!

I do not work for Hoover, but the source I believe is credible, so we'll see over time!!! I am just as excited, yet curious and skeptical as others about what to expect as TTI continues to deal with struggles left behind by Maytag and starts to revamp itself based on more information recieved about what Hoover was PRIOR TO MAYTAG TAKEOVER!!! It will be interesting to monitor news of the company to see where production shifts to and what new models and changes to current market will occur across the entire line.

I myself am very hopeful of power nozzle bagged canisters. Perhaps even a commercial grade one would be awesome!! I want selection, not one machine to choose from. I know they are revamping the Anniversary Windtunnel but am hopeful of something way beyond the changes they are doing to that!!! I really hope a U.S.A made bagged power nozzle canister reappears with a decent hose material, and comfortable hand grip amongst many other things. The Anniversary S3670 has me QUITE mad with that awful hose!!!
