This is another of the haul of 11 I got a few days back, and was not in very good working order.
It was stripped down competely for a clean out as someone had either used it with no bag or it had had a bag burst in the past.
Manufactured Jan 1994, this is the TP 2 800W with bag indicator. It was absolutely filthy inside on stripping it down, the motor housing was full of dust and dirt and the filters totally clogged, both pre and post motor. The motor itself seems to be a bit on the noisy side having been subjected to severe dust abuse, but seems to be OK otherwise.
The only problem with it that I cant work out is that it has a very piercing whistle when working, in upright mode with the hose plugged into the base. But if the hose is moved about the whistle stops, so its airway related - although all the airways are clear. If the hose is pulled out of the base, the whistle stops as well. Its as if there is something causing resonance somewhere in the base pipes, but as yet I cant identify it - only that if the hose is removed from its guide on the back, when vaccing in the upright position then the whistle stops. Very odd indeed.
The belt needs replacing as it suffers from the usual problem of the brushroll stopping when vaccing carpet. It still seems to have the original belt on it as it says "turbopower 2" on the belt. No wonder its slipping and stretched if the belt is 19 years old.

Here's some pics of it

Dont forget the camera flash makes them appear lighter than they really are - in normal light it is a dark blue.
It had a new belt today and its motorin again - no funny noises now, another one back on the road (or should I say the carpet)!

One thing to mention though - at least 2 spade connectors snapped on me when disassembling, one on the main power switch, and the other on the bag light sensor. The copper gets very fragile so be warned if you strip one of these down - take care of the little electrical spade connectors! luckily for me, I have plenty of these but I'd have been stuck if I hadnt got any and had to have soldered the wires to the terminals.

OK - your wish is my command - here's a TP1, seems quite a few people like the TP1 better.

Good to see you've saved "another one".

The whistle is probably the seal where the hose connects to the cleaner at the back, that is missing on my 1999 TP2 and it makes a whistling noise.

I see you're missing the carbon filter, you can buy that from the internet if you wish, or if not, no worries.

Jamie - its original filters were so filthy and knackered I tried to wash them and they disintegrated - so me being me and a tightwad, when I saw the price of a new filter set for this vac - I cut down some old miele filters I had spare to fit post and pre motor. Not to worried about the carbon filter - just want to make sure it has some kind of pre motor filter to avoid the motor housing full of crap again if a bag bursts. Bagged are great when the bags hold - but get a bag burst and they are as much a pain to clean as a bagless.
It has the seal present by the way, and it doesnt do it so much now since I changed the drivebelt.
I love hoovers Jamie and I never put a healthy hoover down (to quote the dogs trust)
I'm up to 32 vacs now - my house is getting full of them very quickly lol

well as much as i love the 07 i think they are on par with each other. cant say which is best. just shame it was dirty fan as the lux turbo-2 stlye models were on sale at that same time were not, therefore the fan could break- something which could not happen with the lux's.
