I agree with you, Brian....these Kenmore & Panasonic canisters are great vacuums! Lots of power & a great powerhead for picking up cat & dog hair. The Power-Mate Jr is also terrific for cleaning pet hair off couches in a hurry & for cleaning stairs.

My only issues with this vacuum, though, are that it isn't a Sealed HEPA vacuum. TONS of dust escapes around the filter. And the cost of the genuine HEPA Cloth bags is ridiculous....2 bags for $16.99?! Heck, I can buy a Miele S5 that takes the G/N bags, that are just as big, for 4 for $19.99. The only good thing is that generic HEPA Cloth bags are available, but those can still be pricey too.

And then there's the overall quality of these vacuums, too....the motors don't last very long, & they have lots of problems with electric failures in the hose, wand & powerhead neck. Considering the Kenmore & Panasonic canisters can easily cost $650 for the TOL Kenmore Intuition, the Riccar/Simplicity canisters & BOL Miele S2 canisters are a much better bang for the buck.

Very attractive in that color, which I would probably call plum. I've seen a great many of these in green, blue, maroon but never yet in this color. That makes me think a lesser number of them were made in this color but my own experience certainly isn't definitive.

Not all of these machines had the same motor; different models that have the same apparent exterior housing had different motors. The larger motors tended to be more robust and longer-lasting.

A weakness of that floor nozzle design is the wheels. They rotate on fixed plastic axles that are part of the body of the nozzle. Even with (thin) Teflon bushings, they wear through and fall off after heavy use. I repair Kenmore canisters for professional house cleaners and the older style nozzles with the two rollers on the back of the bottom plate last much longer.
