how you made the bag. Did you make a pattern first? OR use an old one as the pattern itself? How did you match the TYPE of fabric?
Thanks! |

the fabric is heavy duty calico used for upholstery easily available here in the uk i dyed the fabric brown in the washing machine i did a two metre length so i have plenty to make more bags with if needed the fabric shrinks so its best to wash it first .iused the old bag as a template making the new one 2 centimetres bigger to allow for sewing for the lettering i used a letter template readily available from any craft shop i transfered the letters onto some wide masking tape next stick the tape onto the bag taking care to get it straight dont forget to mask the rest of the bag and then spray numerous coats of gold paint [about 10]then allow to dry for a day or two the top of the bag has strips of plastic cut from an old food container [tuperware]sewn into the hem i also stitched the creases into place so as the bag deflates it folds up by itself what you cant see is the tube of fabric sewn into the bags entry its about 6 inches long as the bag deflates the tube colapsesinto itself stopping any dirt from falling back into the fan chamber

forgot to say the calico is much tougher than the origional material so should last a lot longer if you look at the photo of the machine running you can see the sewn in folds when switched of it folds up nicely my next bag is for a pink 652 [please bear in mind this is all trial and error ]first i will dye the bag pink then spray the whole thing with pink spray paint then run the bag through the sewing machine [without thread ]lots of times to perforate the paint and then spray on the relavent letters the only problem i can forsee is geting the shade of pink right that 1959 pink is a kind of sickly flesh coloured pink if i take the hood to B+Q they will mix the exact shade so they tell me will let you know how i get on
